As a gun owner im willing to concede a few things. 1) Weapons need to be categorized to put semi-autos in their own category. You must qualify through a ridgid mental profile test and weapon profiency exam to own one. 2) All gun owners must go through some sort of firearms safety course and take a test to get a license (picture id) to own a firearm, just as you need a license to drive a car. Im all for owning guns, but we must educate as well.
I consider myself a responsible gun owner, i like to go to the shooting range and target practice. This is purely for sport, I keep my weapons locked so home defense is pretty much useless, thats why i have dogs. I dont feel the need to punish our citizens by taking away rights, but lets use some common sense.
I agree all of the way. Here in Georgia, you get your license when you spit in the face of the judge who grants you the license.

The 2nd amendment provides you with the right to bear arms in a militia. Mr. Colorado was a lone man performing a terrorist-style attack.
Wrong. The 2nd Amendmenr affirms the right to keep anf bear and not limited to militia service.
DistinctlyOK wrote:
Furthermore, those not in a militia are not covered constitutionally to bear arms,....
That's where you're wrong, skippy.
The right is affirmed on "the people". Not "the militia." Not "the people in the militia".
DistinctlyOK wrote:
... though the supreme court provided that national right in other forms.
Oh? How is that?
DistinctlyOK wrote:
Nonetheless, "assault rifles" and other radical weaponry AREN'T legal. You can't possess a fully-automatic without military or authentic approval of the federal government.
You just contradicted yourself. All I need is a $200 stamp an a background check. Why is an "assaul rifle" radical? Do yo ueven know what an "assault rifle" is?
DistinctlyOK wrote:
The big rise right now is all about high-capacity magazines and other add-ons to an otherwise normal arm.
It doesn't make any sense to ban high-capacity clips and other add-ons because I can still legally import them from other nations. Nice try, Dems, but some laws just don't make sense..including a ban on magazines and other add-ons.
Very little you posted made sense either.

I think you should pass a mental test and show your ID to vote.

What do we need all these millions of GUNS for? Some, yes, most NO. Now we have just had a mass school shooting in Connecticut, the reports are still coming in, FOX saying that 26 children are dead! If the state and federal laws in that state had only allowed a shotgun or rifle, most those children would still be alive..... When someone can carry two semi-automatic weapons each with carrying 30 bullets, and is crazy, there's a whole lot of people in trouble. I WANT those who support being able to own any gun they want to tell the rest of us how many people you are willing to see get shot by mass murderers, before you would support gun restrictions !

You're a dumbass if you think that limiting gun access will lower the crime rate.

and you're an idiot to completely dismiss the idea that there has to be a way to keep these guns out of the hands of madmen. If they can't get the damn gun, they can't commit acts like the ones committed today, or last week, or last July, or in 1999. How much loss of innocent lives will it take until people like yourself wake up to the reality that guns kill people. People without guns can't massacre a kindergarten classroom, or a movie theater or a high school cafeteria. Wake up.

or perhaps you want to suggest that we arm kindergarteners or teachers (great way for the kids to get a hold of a gun)or put armed guards in every school, theater, mall, and public place in the country. yep, realistic.

Timothy Mcveigh didn't use guns to massacre a day care...You can take away guns, knives, and every weapon imaginable.. It won't stop violence, people will kill with their own two hands.. I don't have the answers, but I know taking away guns is not going to help.

Who appointed you as the arbiter of how many guns are enough?

The shooter used a rifle, Einstein!

Wow, you're focused on the gun and not the perp that did the damage. Are your priorites and perspective really that skewed???

I want you to tell us how many women you are willing to see strangled by a rapist. I want you to tell us how many elderly you want to see beaten, robbed and killed. I want you to tell us how many more children you want to see nmassacred so you can have your "Gun Free Zone".
Can do? WILL DO?

And you're a dumbass not to realize that there are already gun laws against selling top the mentally disturbed. How long before you pull your head out and realize that guns don't kill. Ever see a gun prosecuted???
And do tell us how Tim McVeigh was able to kill 168 and injure many more without a gun. Or don't you call the Murrah Building Explosion a massacre?

Oh, so let's go on keeping them in so called "Gun Free Zones" where the shooter know damn well there is no one armed to stop them.
But you're okay with that. What's a few dead kids so you can give parents a false sense of security?

Well when I wrote that, LAW, the report was that he used two glock pistols. Since then I have seen what he had used. That said if Adam guy have guns with no more than six rounds each, or better yet, a rifle that could hold no more than two bullets, a lot of those Connecticut children would still be alive. By the way, with all your posts you still haven't answered the question from my post. How many people are you will to see get shot by mass murderers before you would support gun restrictions? You still haven't answered the question. It's a simple request, that's all. My answer is none, what's yours??? Anyone posting here answer with a number.

Anyone notice these cowards are choosing gun free zones? They know the only way to stop a bad man with a gun is a good man with a gun. One bullet from one gun could have stopped a man with a bushmaster and 100's of bullets... the people that need to be trained and armed aren't. What is our most precious treasure? our children. Armed guards for banks but not schools. schools are gun free zones. Is money more inmportant than our children?
