Guns were banned from the Aurora theatre. That didn't stop the psycho from bringing his guns, it only prevented the good guys with carry and conceal permits from being able to defend themselves and others around them.

Something terrible happens in Colorado, and then all of the extremist lefty partisans want to rediscuss gun laws. I don't recall a bulldozer reform after Marvin Heemeyer destroyed part of a town with one, quit being ridiculous.

I don't think there's much of a debate to be had here.

There are nuts every where and its a tragic for anyone to kill. If gun were banned there would still be nuts out there figuring out how to do some one in. England banned all guns and now there is a crime wave over there. Those nuts took all guns from the law abiding citizens and cut them up but you know the criminal element still has guns to rob people there. So if you banned and took all the guns away from the USA citizens guess what would happen THERE WOULD BE MORE KILLINGS AND ASSUALTS RAPES AND ON AND ON. The do gooders are the ones who will benefit from guns being banned for then any nation can just come over here and take us over with out firing a shot for it would be had to defend our country by throwing rocks and using ball bats. Bottom line it so sad for any one to die by any means BUT then to have these people use this tragedy to get on their soap box and start this shit about banning and taking guns like the squirrel Mayor in NYC is sicking. That crazy nut would have figured out how to do people in with out a gun for the way he rigged his apt. by the news media and police describing the way he done things. Yes if those people would of had a way of protecting them selves like conceled weapons maybe some one could have taken him out after the first shot or two, BUT WE WILL NEVER KNOW will we...Sorry for the rant but I'm going to keep my guns and protect my family. Now all you do gooders tear my posting apart and tell me how those poor souls could have been spared from a nut job that had planned to kill people.

I'm pro-arms as well, but you're a little crazy. Red Dawn's a ways away.

As a gun owner im willing to concede a few things. 1) Weapons need to be categorized to put semi-autos in their own category. You must qualify through a ridgid mental profile test and weapon profiency exam to own one. 2) All gun owners must go through some sort of firearms safety course and take a test to get a license (picture id) to own a firearm, just as you need a license to drive a car. Im all for owning guns, but we must educate as well.

I consider myself a responsible gun owner, i like to go to the shooting range and target practice. This is purely for sport, I keep my weapons locked so home defense is pretty much useless, thats why i have dogs. I dont feel the need to punish our citizens by taking away rights, but lets use some common sense.

ONLY Military personnel and civiian forces (like police) should have anything that holds more than a six bullet clip! Or don't allow clips at all. IMAGINE the number of lives that would have been saved and injuries avoided if this Holmes guy didn't have any assault weapons because he couldn't get any! Read what this paper in England thinks of this: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jan/10/u... Because of U.S. laws you are 44 MORE TIMES LIKELY to be injured or killed by a gun here than in England or adjacent Wales.

Please explain to me how preconceived criminals purchase guns at the federal standard. We have a higher crime rate and a lower education rate than the U.K., so you should bring some factuality to the table instead of nose-up (or up-the-nose) conjectures.

One more thing...there's nothing in Wales. Why don't you compare the Wales region to the number of shootings that occur in Wyoming?

Yeah but you are more likely to get stabbed, beaten and assaulted in both locations. The criminals know their targets don't have guns so they have no fear. I have a neighbor just like you, cannot see any reason to own a gun in today's society but guess who he called when he thought someone was in his backyard, you got it, his neighbor the gunowner.

Most of the school shooters were on antidepressants, maybe that's something we should be looking at.

You are the one with the loose screw no where did I say anything about red dawn gun owner. You are living in a fanasty world if you think that the USA is not headed for problems. What's happening in California as we post?? Rioting burning and stealing for some one got shot by who? The Police Dept. officers?? Now if you think we should just roll over and let them burn us out and steal us blind then you are the loose cannon gun owner. I watch the news and read alot about things that is effecting our great country the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The way that sicko rigged his apartment with bobby traps, do you not think he could have blocked the doors and burned the building or used some sort of gas on everybody?? The sick SOB who blew up the Murrah building in OKC used a rental truck so let ban all rental trucks that are yellow or just ban every one of them. He used Diesel also so let ban it also if you buy more than a gallon. There is no reason or rym as to how sick people think and Yet you want to end every ones rights to own a semi auto or a 20 round clip. Forgot that cars kill alot of people also so lets ban them along with whiskey and beer for they cause wrecks also and kills people GUN OWNER. Lets ban every thing that kills people. Now Distinctly you tell us just what different things you think shiuld be banned that kills people OK. Wating for a reply.

Yeah, I think I called you out correctly. Our military could still operate as the worlds largest, strongest military in the world for fifty years on five percent funding.

Our gun laws deprive less arms owners than England, France or Germany. We have access to ridiculously powerful firearms without certification, and I'm happy about that. We promised ourselves that the ownership of arms is a national right, and that anyone can bear them.

Of course, educating gun owners NEEDS to qualify that right, and make sure it doesn't change.

I'm not opposing you, I'm just letting you know how much of a nutjob you sound like. The entire United Kingdom area has pretty low crime; they're English dandies. That's fine and all, but what I'm suggesting is that you use current stories and events. Leave the whole "other country waltzing in" cliché out..it shows the world how much of a nutcase you are.

I'm glad I could spell it out for you.

Guns are not the problem, never have been, never will be. Unchecked mental health issues and criminal elements not being dealt with strongly enough are the problem. I can own 100 guns and the only one to feel threatened would be a deer or ground hog. You commit a crime and use a firearm during the action then a 10 year mandatory incarceration should be added to the sentence. Family members and friends also have a responsibility to help or at least report behaviour or signs of mental health issues in individuals owning firearms. Guns are not going anywhere in our country at least not any time soon, so we need to focus on the issues that lead up to these terrible acts of crime, and better mental health awareness, harsher penalties and stricter requirements to obtain firearms is important.

You need to take a close look at yourself for you are the nut case posting 20 in a row and have no Idea of what the hell you are talking about. If you will check things out it spreads from the east to the west and it is happing as we post funny boy. You must be one of those sleeper cells that post stuff like the USA is bad for having all this stuff and lets ban all of it starting with large soda's for they will kill you then the guns then the red meat then the cars then the ball bats and take away all the rocks that are 2 inches in diameter and then every one line up and we will pull all your teeth for you might have that stuff in your fillings. Distinetly you need check out for you sound like the next nut to do something real bad.
