Absolutely. It'll never happen though. The right-to-life crowd will go ballistic if their constitutional right to kill things is impeded.

Really? The right to kill fetuses crowd is claiming moral high ground over the right to keep and bear arms? Let's see if they go ballistic should Roe v. Wade ever get reversed.

How long have you been a fan of criminal enabling/victim disarmament policies?

The right to self defense for the many far outweigh the adverse effect of handgun ownership to the few..

Unless you're doing something illegal, why should you be intimidated?

We already have laws to keep criminals from owning handguns. Those people who don't break the law have a right to own guns for protection.

No i would not support a ban on handguns... Owning a firearm and having a firearm on you, is a valuable tool to use to protect yourself and others around you. Take for example Colorado, if there was someone else in that crowed that had a permit to carry a weapon maybe that shooter wouldn't have been able to kill so many innocent people. Not to mention with the issue of road rage these days i feel much more comfortable having a handgun near by.

Wouldn't have mattered if they had a permit. The theater was a "Gun Free Zone" aka Killing Field. Criminals of course don't obey laws and look for places like that knowing full well they can exact maximum carnage without fear of someone stopping them before the police arrive...to take statements from witnesses.

I disagree.
Firstly, most theaters have a no weapons allowed policy. If caught you are kicked out, no refund and depending on the actions of the violator, police will be called.
Second, it was a dark theater. Confusion ran rampant. People didn't know if the gun shots were part of the movie or not. Those who got up to flee were shot at. If there were armed people in the theater, they would have opened up on the only thing they could positively identify, muzzle flashes. Suddenly you have more than one shooter in a dark room. Who is the bad guy?
If there were armed people in that theater, you can expect more deaths due to citizens thinking they were shooting at the right target.

So how were they able to flee in the dark?
Are you discounting the possiblity of someone walking into the theatre from the back?

Pure supposition on your part.

You have nothing to back that up. What we DO know is that creating "Gun Free Zones" guarantees maximum carnage without any chance of stopping the threat. Which you would appear to be okay with.

Gun rights for good citizens deter crime. Criminals will always manage to get guns. The second amendment was written for a reason.
