Gun bans have been proven ineffective worldwide. The felons will still have guns when the law abiding citizen does not.

Not gonna happen. That violates the Second Amendment. This argument is pointless. The Supreme Court has already smacked this down twice. (DC and Chicago). The day a local, state, or federal agency tries to pass and enforce this will go down in history as a very bloody day indeed.

Cold Dead Hands, please show me where the second amendment states that citizens may possess handguns.

I've read it several times and can't find that statement anywhere.

Also I would like to add this.

The Supreme Court has also ruled in favor of abortion. Is that also a pointless argument that we should not debate the right to life?

The second amendment doesn't make a distinction between firearms. It just guarantees the right of the people to be armed. As for abortion, it is deplorable but guess what? We are talking about the constitution which also guarantees people the right to life. When you elect liberals, they They try to pass laws against both.

Where does the word 'abortion' appear in the Bill of Rights? Now, "arms" specifically are.

Let more people get a gun and less robberies will happen in homes. Its about time these idiots realize they cannot take charge and leave America fearful anymore. If you have an idea of robbing me inside or outside my home, I have a right to defend. Those people that do not believe in guns are the same people that have their own and intend wrong doing. Lets think - no guns legally means guns only go to bad guys. It's against the law to rob, rape and kill, but yet bad guys still do it. Introduce a gun law and only the convicts will be glad.

I think it's natural to be afraid of guns if you weren't raised around them. Gun control will always be a very polarizing issue. However, I take comfort in knowing that I can protect myself and my family.

Guns, like anything else, are only as "smart" as the owner. Most felonys would happen with some other form of violence if a gun were not available.

Gun control has been proven not to work, instead of banning guns, everyone should have to own a gun. No one is going to want to rob a house knowing the owners have a gun.

"Gun violence in the United States has become an epidemic. From the Civil War to the present, 567,000 Americans have died in combat; but since 1920, over 1 million American civilians have been killed by firearms (Pacific Center, 1994). Guns are unnecessary. A gun is specifically designed to bring about the death of someone/something. It has no other purpose than to kill or injure, the entertainment value of target practice a simple bonus.
