The only gun control we need is to put a cap on the number guns we can carry ! Illinois and Wisconsin are the only 2 states in the Union that do not recognize conceal / carry permits ,that needs to change . As mayor Terry may apply and after completing a course with the state police receive a carry permit as can a trustee but not an average citizen its a shame

That's because under Illinois State law village mayors/trustees are allowed to carry, they are considered to be shirt tail "Law Enforcement" under the law (which is very out dated)Back in the earlier days of our state the mayors and trustees were usually the only "law" in smaller towns who weren't big enough yet to support a formal police department. In fact up until the late 80's Chicago aldermen were allowed to carry guns and were also considered law enforcement, that's when dorthy tillman went into city council chambers and waved a gun around and the law was re-written; as far as terry being able to get the gun laws changed in the state I hate to admit it but it's beyond his control; and f.y.i. ANY village official (with the exception of chicago) can carry a gun in the state after completing the 40 hr course, but that "right to carry" ends when they leave office.

Wisconsin already had open carry without any permit, the only reason CCW there has not passed is because the governor vetoed it a few times. This year he is up for reelection, and is down in the polls (thanks to us Poles), and will have a CCW law on the books by the middle of next year leaving Illinois the only state not to have some sort of CCW or open carry laws on the books.

If more homeowners had guns we could protect ourselves better. The bad guys sure aren't going to give their guns up and I bet they don't have their weapons registered or are even legal. So a ban would only hurt the good guys and never the bad guys. A ban would be bad. I think the town should build a gun shop we can call it Gun World. It would bring in good revenue and a better choice of business. It is better than a new massage parlor.

We used to have a gun shop by the DMV but they closed up, I am not sure how long ago. It would be nice to have a new sop with a firing range and also offer classes.

Actually having a store like Cabelas here in town would be great, the only one on the South side the closest is in Hoffmen Eastates or Indiana. They would do a great business here.

A Cabelas or a Bass Pro Shop. Both are good and since they sell mostly hunting and target shooting guns I think they would be OK with the goofy rules Cook county has.

I would love a Cabelas or Bass Pro shop. That is a great idea. I went to the Cabelas in Indiana and had a buffalo burger and it was good.

I had a friend of mine tell me about coming home from a hunting trip last year with his son and hunting dog. They had too much money and wanted to stop at either Cabelas, Gander Mountain, or Bass Pro to make some purchases (I'm still jealous). They called all 3 asking if the dog could come in. Cabelas and Gander Mountain said no. Bass Pro said something like, are you kidding, you guys are the reason we exist. Bring your dog you are very welcome in our store. They said when they arrived they were treated like royalty. I've driven the extra distance to Bass Pro ever since. They obviously truly love outdoorsmen rather than just being a supply store.

A gun shop/range with lessons and help applying for ccw when the time comes would be wonderful.

I wonder how many local citizens are also NRA Certified Firearms Instructors we have in our neighborhood. This also would be of assistance when ccw is finally allowed in Illinois.

Absolutley, Let's hear it for a Midlothian Gabelas. Many, Many Tax Dollars. I can hear our tax bills falling now (Sure) Ask Terry how he feels about a sports/gun store in town and I"ll bet he's not too keen on that idea. But your idea is fantastic.

NO What we should spend more tax dollars defending laws that the constitution says are ILLEGAL. We have the right to own and bear arms even Daley's mob couldn't get that to fly at how much $

The reason that Gun Shop closed up is because the owner was shot to death there. A person came in, asked to look at a 25 cal. and when shown, put in a few bullets he pulled out and shot the owner. When captured a few minutes later and asked why he did it, he responded, he was homeless and wanted to go back to jail to have a home. That is a true story. Sad but true. I believe that was almost 22- 24 years ago.

Depending who wins the election for Governor Illinois might finally get Concealed Carry! Brady has already said that if he gets in he will pass it; I do like how they had it set up the last time it was up, it required you to take a 40 hr course, and pass all the background checks (naturally)and you had to re-qualify every 2 years. Quinn has already said that he will NEVER pass CCW, I wonder if it's out of fear or just plain ignorance?
