A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

It is a constitutional right to own and bear arms. This includes sidearms. The provision was put in place by the founders so that citizens could wage war against an oppressive government. The battle with England had just concluded and this provision was put in place to protect the first amendment----the Right of Free Speech. Webster's first dictionary was drawn so as to establish a record of word meaning, for future generations to understand in what context the drafters of the constitution meant. The word arms, was short for armaments. It was intended to allow U. S. citizens the right to "own and bear arms". In todays terms it would relate to anything from sidearms to M2 tanks and Apache helicopters--if one could afford them.

I am a hardline supporter of the second ammendment. I will always be. But, there are limits to what the American citizen should consider to be his right to own. By your definition I take it you also believe that we should all be able to have an atomic bomb and a B52 to deliver it with. I know this is a gross exaggeration, but I use the analogy to make a point....There is a limit to what is reasonable and what is ridiculous. Semi-automatic handguns, riles, and shotguns have always been reasonable. I don't care what they look like, as long as they fit the semi-automatic nomenclature they should be legal. But, I do not believe that fully automatic weapons should be in the hands of civilians any more than I believe we should own M2 tanks and Apache helicopters. When It gets to that point in America we will have already lost the nation known as the United States of America.

As if your preference in sex partners is in any way as important as the right and duty to defend our country and our homes.

Please. Grow up. No one cares about your sex life or who you sleep with, love, or marry as long as you choose someone of age who is willing. Do your thing, but don't expect anyone else to care about it.

Ahh no, you dumh tw@t your "preference" is to own a hand gun, oh and BTW you look a little "ethnic and illegal" yourself there. As a veteran, you can kiss my f-ing ass. You and those like you have made it known you want to limit my right to protect those I love, a legal adult male, so YOU do and HAVE taken it upon YOURSELF to involve yourself in MY life. So I WILL take it upon MYSELF to F*ck up YOUR rights and your "preferences". So I really don't care if your C*NT is armed or six f-ing feet under! Eat $HIT and die at the hands of an illegal and in a body heap UNDER the corpses of YOUR family. You made your grave now lie in it!

It's my right to own a weapon under the Constitution. The US Constitution doesn't address sexual preferences or love lives.

It's your preference to have sex with whoever you have sex with and you can love anyone you want to love. It's your preference to have sex at all, or to love at all, actually. Why should anyone be concerned with your sex/love life, as long as you have willing partners who are of the age of consent?

Your life doesn't inform or affect my life, or anyone else's. As I said, do your thing. So you complain that I said 'do your thing?' I'm quite sure you don't fixate on the love lives of everyone else.

Bottom line: no one cares about your life except you. That's the way it is. You're the one who invited comments about your preferred lifestyle by posting it in a public forum. I couldn't care less about you, but I never pass up an opportunity to point out the kind of illogic and lack of reason as you possess. Get over yourself.

As a veteran to another veteran - you can kiss anyone's ass except mine. I don't want your obvious hate near mine. You have seriously sick anger issues - the kind that make owning a handgun necessary.

Looks like you lost this one. Seems like you can't marry, yet I have guns. I support the rights of any two adults to marry, but you are a disgrace. I'm a little less likely to help out your cause after reading your nasty posts.

A well regulated Militia, well we've advanced beyond that point. We now have police departments and standing military forces. Why is a regulated militia necessary?

Two good thoughts posted on here earlier:
"I can't carry a cop, so I carry a gun."
"When seconds count, the police are minutes away."
I know you don't like to hear stuff like this, but then you have another option...just lay down and take it.
The next time you talk to your local Chief of Police, just ask him what his estimated response time to a call is versus the actual response time was over the past year. Then ask him how you should keep a criminal out of your home until the cops arive. And ask him what you should do after you hide in your bedroom only to have an intruder kick the door down and come after you.
Many police officials will tell you that you should keep a firearm for protection while others will tell you that no one should own a gun...even when it means they will die while unable to defend themselves from an armed intruder.

Police = revenue generation for city and state municipalities {Government} nothing more nothing less, as there is no way that a cop can be every were 100% of the time {I mean no offence to any law enforcement officers} but it is what it is. As a Man and a husband you must always look after the well being and safety of you’re family/loved ones at all times. The 2ond amendment has always been there for the very reason that it’s a bad idea to have the Army and police armed and the basic citizen not. Good for government bad for citizen.

Because of our basic right to protect ourselves, our society's laws provide for law enforcement, not protection. Police respond to a crime in progress and/or invistigate crimes already committed.

What's screwed up are some states' laws that won't let citizens protect themselves, but they haven't changed any laws that mandate police protection of citizens. Police in those states are still mostly limited to law enforcement and apprehending criminals after the crime has been committed.

Because cops don't care to protect anymore. Its just a paycheck for them, so I have to protect my family myself.

In complete contrast to yesterday, you have your head screwed on firmly today. Yet you won't be boringly sensible or drearily practical, so there's no danger of you having turned into a dry old stick overnight. It's a good day for keeping track of important details and processes, such as confirming a forthcoming appointment or filling in a form and then making a copy of it before sending it off.
