"God, Guns, and Guts Made America, let's keep all three!" was the bumper sticker my great-uncle's old pickup. Back in the 80's. That statement applies NOW, more than EVER before!

The police are not always there when you need them. And the way things are going, I can't afford privatize police officers. At least I know I can trust the person behind my weapon of protection.

Most bad people have a weapon, I have a right to protect my family and myself.. Once our weapons are taken away from us in one form or another by the government, then who is the criminal??

Restricting handguns to law abiding citizens will make no difference on the ability of criminals to acquire them. Even if an outright ban did help reduce handgun violence, knife, long gun, etc related violence would rise

Banning guns takes protection away from law abiding citizens, making them dependent on the cops, who arrive AFTER you are dead, robbed or permanently injured.

When rho Obama-Clinton treaty kicks in, in 2014, the UN will be allowed to do a house to house search and take ALL guns of ALL types. Then, only outlaws and the government will have guns. Say, "Zeig, Obama."

Handguns, guns in general, are the only protection we have against the upcoming takeover of the US by socialists (code word: liberals). Also, when you call the law, it takes from 15 minutes to an hour, or more fot them to respond. By the time they get there, you could be dead.
PALEEESE!...there are republicans who pretend to support right to carry just to get elected, once in they will turn on you in a second. Don't label anyone a 2nd amendment supporter in the politcal rhelm. I am a independent -leaning democrat- who has guns and supports 2nd amendment rights.

yes, and assault weapons. Sandy Hook was the last straw. I want to do whatever I can to control guns in this country. If people read the Second Amendment correctly they should realize there is no guarantee there for everyone to have a gun. My god, it is in plain English!

This country has more deaths by guns than any other non third world country in the world. Why, because too many people have guns. Just read the paper every day. How many stories are there about people shooting an intruder in their homes? Almost never. How many stories are there of a government attempt to invade your home? Never Hmmmmm. Well how many stories are there of ordinary people being killed with guns or assault weapons such an angry family member shooting someone in their family, a neighbor shooting their neighbor about something, drive by shootings and tragic shootings like Sandy Hook. Many every day., every week, every month. Civilized countries don't allow everyone to have a gun. We shouldn't either. Let's begin with banning assault weapons for ordinary citizens. We really should do oh so much more. People who want guns in their homes conjure up situations that almost never happen. They are more likely to shoot someone in their family than an intruder. Some say we would be safer if everyone had a gun so that no one would dare assault you. I say more rational than that is if no one had a gun then no one could shoot anyone else. Doesn't that make more sense? Yes, there would be criminals with guns. There are criminals with guns now that commit mayhem. We have police to combat that problem and it would be easier if no ordinary citizen had a gun.

I have read the 2nd Amendment correctly. Obviously you haven't. The Bill of Rights is about rights, not guarantees.

Your lack of knowledge on the number of annual defensive gun uses is excusable.

"We have police to combat that problem and it would be easier if no ordinary citizen had a gun."

Right, because police can be everywhere 24/7.
