If you ban handguns, it will only allow for those who break the law anyways to have guns. Make it better odds for the criminal element.

1) any and all gun laws are unConstitutional
2) both privately funded and government crime statistics indicate between 1 million and 3 million citizens use forearms in self defense every single year in the US - preventing 10's of thousands rapes, robberies, and murders.
3) two or three school shootings were stopped by armed citizens.
4) "Easy availability of guns" was not a cause for any school shooting. It is the express prohibition of firearms at most schools that akes schools targets. Teachers and other adults habe their civil liberties stripped from then when they set foot on school property. 5) "Gun Free Zones" should be more accurately named "self defense free zone" or "criminal safe zone."
6) To limit or call into question an individual's right to self defense, is morally reprehensible.
7) any type of gun ban or registration is just the first step is complete disarmament of the general population. Of course this will have no effect on violent criminals. Correction: this will make committing crime easier, because criminals will still have guns, but their intended victims will be disarmed.

Last I checked criminals didn't really care about bans, so what's the point?

Such a ban would violate our fundamental rights and promote a demonstrable failure: Prohibition.
It failed to stop liquor in the Thirties, has failed to stop drugs from the Thirties onward; and gun bans don't stop criminals from being armed now.
It is a cretinous proposition, promoted by posturing politicians as a "feel-good" sop to the feckless and ignorant.

There are already enough gun laws on the books that don't work. Look at Chicago, which has the strictest gun laws in the nation and has the worst crime and murder rate in the country. I'm tired of the anti gun folks always bring up the tragedy of gun ownership. When are they going to show the positive affects of owning a gun? There are significantly more "crime was prevented/stopped" because a private citizen was a gun owner. You'll never see it as that does not fit into the liberal agenda to eliminate private gun ownership.

Criminals will not turn in their guns. Criminals will get guns from theft, bribery, or in the same package that their drugs for sale come in. I'm not looking for a fair fight with a criminal, I want it as much in my favor as I can get it. My home is my castle and will be defended as such.

Murderers don't care about the law either, that's what makes them criminals, doesn't mean we can't outlaw murder.

That's the point.

We need to keep Guns out of the hands of criminals, that means background checks, no free buys at gun shows, removing illegal guns from society. Nobody wants to take law abiding citizens guns away, we want to keep guns from flowing to illegal hands.

If you cannot agree to that, you're hysterical.

No such thing as an "illegal gun". And what is a "free buy" at a gun show?

We already have appropriate gun laws. The guns being used in crimes are not owned by legal gun owners, they are owned and used by people that don't follow laws to begin with.

Oh really, glad you piped in with your usual wrong opinion, Newtown Guns were a "resposible Gun Owners" guns meathead.

Free buys at Guns shows means no background checks of any kind in answer to genius above. An illegal Gun is one that has no legal owner, you're hysterical!

Notice,

As usual, you can be counted on trying to base your opinion on the exception rather than the rule. I would debate this with you, but that would be like you showing up to a gun fight with a knife.

You're dreaming if you think for one minute that tighter gun laws do anything but negativelt affect the ability for law-abiding people to protect themselves.

People that have no respect for our laws will find a means to obtain whatever they need to break laws and hurt others. The only proper defense is to allow law-abiding people the ability to protect themselves with lethal force if necessary.

It has been pointed out a number of times for you idiots, that tougher laws don't work...chicago is the poster child for the toughest laws in the country and has outrageously high rates of crime with guns...so much for your lame reasoning.

If the school in Connecticut hadn't been declared a "gun-free" zone, it may have saved all of those children...too bad dumb asses like you choose to ignore the facts.

You can make all of the laws you want and it won't matter. Drugs are illegal but if you want some you can find them.

Oh please, ridiculiusness. I know you Gun nuts think all you have to say is, Laws won;t help and Newtown was some kind if exception and only criminals will have guns and then nobody can even talk wbout it, it's a now obvious strategy. The truth is, there have been all kinds of "exception" mass gun deaths and the one similar constant is GUNS!!! Arming everyone in an ever increasing personal arms race is not the answer mad max! You live is a dream world of video games.

Here's a solid suggestion sure to work, REGISTER Guns, every one of them just like Cars, they get sold, they get transferred and every time one is used in a crime, it is easily tracked.

We can charge a bar tender if they serve a drunk more booze, we can sue for malpractice, we can sue for allowing your gun to be in the worng hands and being used in a crime.

And Facts, it's nice you choose to completely ignore the forstb thing you said which was WRONG and try to disctract and accsue me of whatever BS you can redirect with, fact is, YOUR FIRST STATEMENT WAS WRONG!!!!!!! SO STFU about any other BS arguments you want to make, when you start off with BS lies, you are not allowed to proceeed to change the subject!!!

F-ING ignorant jackass!

Don,

You will always find idiots like Notice that ignore the hard facts and any level of common sense. We have boat loads of data that confirm that tougher gun laws mean little, and one of the most important things that can be done is to ensure that our existing guns laws are enforced.

People like notice somehow think or believe that removing guns from people that do things legally takes guns away from people that will use them to commit crimes or keep those people from procuring guns illegally.

Notice also chooses to ignore the facts that this young man that recently went on a killing spree had mental issues that should have been addressed and those issues were not addressed. Notice is very much like our President that always reaches for the low hanging fruit and the easy answers, in a belief that he is doing something worthy...far from the truth.

That young man needed help and didn't get it, so to blame the fact that he had access to a gun is foolish...if he wanted to kill with a gun, he will find a gun to do it. If he can't find a gun, he may just build a bomb instead, or poor poison in drinking water supplies...

Notice is living in a wacko version of Wonderland where he believes government can legislate and control the bad guys...

It is proven fact that having legal weapons for self-protection is a good deterrence to violent crime.

Notice is an idiot.

I get his side of it but he's wrong. The Kennedys made their millions during prohibition, how did that work out for ya? Guns dont find criminals, criminals find guns just like people who want to find whiskey find it.

Lets say we ban gun manufacturers from making guns, what would our soldiers be training with? Maybe slingshots?

I don't like the wars we get into and think we should keep our nose out of it but if the President does send Americans into a foreign country I want those soldiers armed to the teeth.
