This would only take handguns away from the good people that would follow the law. The people we are trying to protect ourselves from in the first place would still have handguns.

I'm 25 yr old female and own a handgun and I'll be damned if anyone will take that right from me. I'm in the process of getting my concealed permit, but I certainly do not rely on any person in uniform or a man to protect me or my child.

And yes, before anyone tried to say anything negative about a female and a gun, my gun and ammo is ALWAYS properly secured at all times and NO my child DOES NOT have access to it. EVER.

Three reasons to own a GUN (of any kind). First: self defense. Second: So the government doesn't take over completely, like they are doing. Third: Enjoyment.

We as Americans have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. It is easier for us to exercise this right be being able to carry a pistol/revolver at our side as opposed to carrying around a rifle/shotgun; this would also make drawing the weapon in the use of self defense very difficult. The only thing a ban on handguns would do is hurt the law abiding citizens as other gun control laws tend to. Criminals, as their name implies, do not generally observe/obey the law.

The government could care less about who is getting killed with guns, be it men, women or children.
The government banning guns is about control over the people.

Guns are an equalizer, they allow that 110 lb. woman to stand a chance when she is about to get mugged by a 210 pound man. If they were to be banned the only people to be in possession of them would be the criminals as their very name implies they do not obey the law. Such a ban would guarantee more unarmed helpless law abiding citizens

I wish once and for all the media would actually look at the real statistics and quit going after sensationalism. It is a proven fact that areas where guns a prominant violent crime is lower

The second amendmant isn'there so hunters can hunt. It isn't there so that target shooters can go out and punch holes in paper. It isn't even there so that the people can protect themselves from criminals. All those are just benifits, the second amendmant was put in place to protect the American people from the government. It was put into place so that the American people would be able to protect themselves in the event that the government became oppressive and starting trying to become a dictatorship. Take a look at history people, look at all of the comunist countries in the world. One of the first things that these countries did was to outlaw guns so that their citizens couldn't oppose them when they took over. One of the very first things that Hitler did when he became chanclor in Germany was to take away all of the guns from the people. This country needs to wake up and see the truth.

Very well stated, some people fail to keep in mind that when our founding fathers instituted the second amendment they just got finished fighting a war against a tyranical state militia and realized they may have to do it again at some point.

Respect. Thats all the American citizen wants. The right to protect home & family. I also have a ccp. Hopefully I'll never have to excercise that right to defend. Gun safety is a must. Take the family to courses that are being offered.I am also a woman.If they unarm the American citizen, then only criminals will have guns. Be safe and keep it on the target.
