Ok let me stop playing idiot.
I've already admitted that I don't know anything about guns, gun laws or gun shows. But I'm interested in the Gun Control issue so I always find the best way to research something is take the little knowledge you do have, talk to someone who knows what their talking about and annoy them with your ignorance on the issue. They almost almost always tell you most of what you need to know to start researching.
I know this sounds unbelievable, but I developed this from actual experience, trying to debate someone who knew what they were talking about and ended up learning more getting my butt handed to me. Then I research on what I've learned from debate.
Thank You for putting up with me and I shall return a little less ignorant on the issue.
Excellent. And don't believe EVERYTHING you're told from either side of the debate.

After doing a little research. I've come to an initial conclusion....

WTF are we debating about again?

None of this seems important. Ok there are a bunch of people going crazy. What else is new. It seems as if you have side trying to ban guns, another side trying keep guns and most people in the middle (where the battle ground really is) just trying to make the decision they can. But none of it actually seems to looking towards the root cause. Just because you ban guns doesn't mean we'll be any safer and just because everyone has a gun doesn't mean we'll be any safer either.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, Gun Control isn't the issue, people are the issue. The issue should be what is making certain people so angry they want to commit these crimes. No one is talking about regular crimes, people are concerned about spontaneous slaughtering like Aurora or Columnbine. But it's obvious the samething wouldn't have happened regardless, because they recently prevented a white supremacist kid from attempting to bomb his school. So Gun Control just based off of that becomes irrelevant, because you can kill the same number of people and yourself more effectively from bombs. So next they'll have to go to suicide bombs, and then we'll have that epidemic and then they'll try to take away household materials that can turn into bombs.

But even then people will find a way. So what are really talking about?

Nothing.

And now they are talking about video games and movies. It's become obvious that we have mental health epidemic. Maybe we should start paying more attention to our brains and emotions.

If you ask me this is the perfect time to put people's Psychology degree to good use.

Just a Thought.

YOU may be talking about nothing, but Obama and Biden are both neck deep in a conversation to severely limit this country's gun freedoms. If you don't care, then you're part of the problem. The 2nd Amendment is NOT about hunting and target shooting...it's about the ability of We, the People to defend ourselves against those that intend us harm, and more importantly to defend ourselves from Tyranny in government. If you doubt that, you need to do more research.

I can't leave this alone 'till I say this lol. You are so spot on! The thing that gets me is that all the politicians are jumping on this for no reason other than being politically correct, FOR THE VOTES...NOTHING else. THEY are more pathetic and criminal than anyone else. To make things worse, this "system", with prosecutors and "judges" like Niagara County NY's Sara Sheldon-Sperrazza-FarkASS that actually cater to the criminals and pamper them to a degree that is arrogant towards the citizens and obviously corrupt, yet the people are oblivious to it all! Coumo wants to require permit holders to "re-certify" themselves and their "permits" in order to keep their "permit" to own, possess and/or carry weapons while restricting what weapons they can have as well as limit the amount of ammunition they have AND what kind of ammunition; does THAT in ANY way effect criminals??? NO, and IF a criminal does get caught with anything illegal, prosectors and "judges" like FarkASS slap them for being bad. THAT is the problem. THAT is why it's called the CRIMINAL "justice" system.
Signed;
A law abiding but now criminal and proud of it.

What I mean by none of this being important is that no matter what we ban we will always end up with the same problem, we're just reducing the chances. But that's not fixing the problems, it's just simply patching it up. And to me that means that all of the talks about this issue are pointless and there for not important. Mind you that's the Talking side of it. But when it comes to legislation, I agree that is a huge issue. But all of these talks are just pointless.

Especially when you talk about crime, but once again this isn't about crime, because we have a multibillion dollar Prison Industrial Complex that feeds off of the causes of criminal behavior. The issue is crazy people getting guns. So far their only solution is putting the guns where they can't reach it. But as most parents know, it doesn't matter how high you put something up, if someone is determined enough to get something they'll get it. Or they'll find something else that's just as dangerous. Which makes this a completely pointless ban.

Totally in favor of a ban on guns...it's worked great in other countries and has reduced the death toll caused by guns.
No, it hasn't. England has a violent crime rate (includes murders, rapes, armed robery, etc.) that is seven times ours! Australia's homicide rate actually went up after their ban. Massacres just take another form- Sarin and homemade bombs as in Japan and Germany.

All of us grieve for the people that have lost their lives (by any method of murder) to evil people. I have four children at home and get both angry and sad when I think of the children killed in Connecticut. I am also still very angry and sad when I see the stories on 9-11-01 when the towers fell and when I see the photo of the crying firefighter carrying the dead child out of the ruins of the blasted federal building in Oklahoma City.

But...there are evil people in our world. Whether or not they have guns is irrelevant. Everybody needs to recognize this. Regardless of whether these bad people use guns, ammonium nitrate and diesel fuel, box cutters, or whatever, they will find some tool to perform the evil that they want to do. Infringing on the rights of the law-abiding owners of guns, box cutters, and/or fertilizer & diesel fuel will not fix the problem.

In the case of the recent shootings, I fully believe that a single armed and trained security guard or off-duty police officer at any of these places where these horrible massacres took place would have either stopped the incident from happening or given enough time to both evacuate the premises and have a prompt response by area police. Armed, trained air marshals and TSA officials have been very effective since 9-11 and the same would hold true in our schools. Iíll bet the violent crime rate is far lower at stores with armed security guards or moonlighting police officers stationed therein than those without.
