Who is the greatest movie villain of all time?
#1 Jan 21, 2012
Margaret Hamilton played most of the scenes of her landmark role, with severe burns she suffered in the "disappearing in a blast of fire" scene (just before Dorothy begins down the Yellow Brick Road). Until the postmodern jading of most children at an early age, the Wicked Witch was, to most of us, the personification of Evil--shown most aptly, IMHO, in the "crystal ball" scene, where Aunt Em fades out as Dorothy weeps, The Witch fading in with taunts. Then, the travails of her death scene, in agony but unrepentant. And, let's face it: the Wicked Witch was a "revenge villain", always the best kind. I first saw her when The Wizard of Oz was first shown on television, in the mid-1960's. Scared da Hell outta me.
Honorable Mention: James Remar as homicidal maniac Albert Ganz, in the original 48 Hrs.(my favorite movie).
