If you consider yourself an American, you can't support or oppose laws and government actions based on what you think the Bible or Torah or Koran or Bhagvad-Gita or any other holy book or self-appointed holy man says.

The US of A is a Republic, not a Theocracy, and the Constitution is the document that guides our government. You wanna live in a Theocracy, pack your bags and move to Iran.

i don't think it is anyone's business who you sleep with, we are all human beings and all americans, why should one person have a different set of rules and rights based only on who they sleep with. there are much more pressing issues in this world and in this country that we should be devoting our time to, and if you are so grossed out about it maybe its more ignorance and fear than actually opposing the idea.

I think gay marriage should be abolished except the way that the human race was designed to be like bought it two gay people want to live together they should be able to get the same benefits as straight man and woman. But this is seems to be an issue when it comes up to election time this for unintelligent politicians to try to get their votes they did not care about the way that life was designed to be days when I get elected to get in power to benefit their themselves say they believe in gay marriage but when they are in power they get amnesia too many to face politician's messed up the true morals of the human race. A lot of people that married people for the money instead of love will divorce the person and get half of their assets they do not marry for love they marry for greed and have no morals anyways. Only stupid people get married nowadays the wise and intelligent people are more open-minded and see the world for what it is. You do not need a contract to love someone. The Catholic Church is a bunch of hypocrites they tell married people how the live their lives but they did not have the experience of knowing they does believe in a molesting little boys and God is not too happy with this that's why he will bring the world to end in 2012 just remember this when you burn and damnation even the religious people that are hypocrites will go to hell.

Biblical references are not valid. Separation of church and state

People shouldn't be denied rights because a few bigots want to take Bible quotes out of context. And besides, the U.S. is not a theocracy, so why should we let religion dictate who gets rights? They can have whatever opinions they want, but when they try to infringe on people's rights, it's gone too far. Love is a great thing, and shouldn't be restricted by such a petty issue as gender.

Support. It's simple. If you oppose, then don't marry someone of the same sex.

People commit sins all the time. Lack of integrity (not keeping promises), lying, unjustified anger, bitterness, being uncharitable, and cruel speech are just a few of the many common sins that are mentioned in the bible. If your God does not accept a person because of who they love, then I don't want to be a part of his heaven.

Because Anyone should have the right to be able to marry who they are in love with be it a man or woman. I don't think its fair to go against something like that just because they like a diffrent gender rather than most of us. Love shouldn't have any bounds and it's not going to destroy us just to allow them to marry!

Marriage is a human right, not a heterosexual privilege.

To those using biblical references: If God does not accept somebody for loving another person, he definitely won't accept a person for hating another person.

Why religious people don't support homosexuality is beyond me. I support this whole-heartedly. Love will always conquer. Love will always prevail.
