I think society is losing the moral idea of what marriage is. It's two people who want to share their lives with each other and bring up kids. It's that certainty that the child will have two parents - one from each gender to get a rounded point of view of life. The old testament says that any man who lays with another man is an abomination and they should be killed. While I don't advocate murdering anyone, I don't believe that two of the same sex should be married. It's unnatural. Before anyone jumps on me for saying this, I don't harbor any ill will towards a gay man or woman. I just don't think marriage is suited for them. I think it pokes the eye of the very idea of marriage. As far as being their right??? Who says so? I don't remember reading that anywhere. So basically, I can go out and start saying that using someone elses car is OK too because "it's my right" to do so. Or I can refuse to pay taxes because it's my money and I refuse to give it to a government that's so corrupt. It's all the same. Just because someone said "it's my right", doesn't make it right.
Now, get over it. There's going to be people against it until the end of time so you might as well get used to it now. Gays should have been prepared for this when they pushed the issue of gay marriage in the first place. Why in the hell would they expect other people to like is? Quit shoving it down peoples' throats!

Shame on you Just Me in Malone. Look at the way you put people down, and then you quote the testaments. You go on and on using very poor examples of people's rights....(love the car thing.) What I don't see you writing is about equal rights. What I would like to know is, how does this effect you the person? If two people, who truly love each other and are committed to each other, why should they not be married? I believe this wonderful country we live in was founded on the very principal of Freedom! Why should I not be able to share in the same benefits that other Americans do if I'm gay? Do you believe that gay people are second class citizen and therefor should not be treated as equal. You say that marrage is not suited for gay people why? If some day your child or your grandchild tells you that they are gay and they want to get married, would you want to deny them a lifetime of happiness. I don't see how you think people are pushing this down your throat. What many gay and MANY non-gay folks would simply like to see is equal right for all Amercans. If your point comes from a religious point of view, I also believe this country was founded on the right of religious freedom.

I can't help but also ask the question what do you think is natural? Ever heard of the term, the good old boys club? I find when people say the way it has always been....it seems to fit in there with that thinking and mind set.
You quote the testament and God......who do you think wrote that book.......sounds like the good old boys club. I pray for the happiness and equallity of All your decendents!!!!!!!!!! Don't be one that puts people down for who they are, lift them up for what the could become!!!!

Sorry Tupper Laker. That's my opinion. As for the Bible, read it for yourself. It's in the first testament or old testament. Supposedly God wrote the Bible but do you really believe that? No. It was written by man as man saw it to be written.
I don't belong to a "good-ol-boys" club. I'm sick and tired of hearing people say "it's my right......". And who says so? Them?? What about if one million drug smuggling Mexicans came to your house and took it over and stated "it's my right". WOuld you feel the same way. What I'm saying is that there has to be some sort of limit on how far ANYONE's rights extend before they border on the edge of immoral. In this day and age of the lack thereof, there's little in the way of defining these morals anymore. Without certain moral and socially accepted behaviors we would surely lack any civilized existence in the future. Before long the thin veil setting us apart from wild animals would disappear and chaos would ensue before long.
I'm simply saying: where do we draw the line on what is ANYONE'S rights? When is society going to take a stand to preserve moral integrity? We complain because it seems teen pregnancy is out of control but I hear Moms who are delighted that their 17 YO daughter is pregnant. What gives with that?? And we see more and more kids in prison and using drugs than ever before. What's the explanation? I think it's a lack of morals and acceptable social behaviors. We complain when we have to hand money out to welfare people because they're cooked their brains on booze or meth but it was "their right" to do it if they didn't get caught. How long will it be before someone starts yelling "it's my right to grow my own pot and smoke my brains out".
Don't judge me. I've seen too much in my 74 years to care. I've seen what these "right" have done to society - a society that was once the proudest in the world. Now we're just suppose to accept anything anyone says. Well, the US still lets me have free speech and I'm against gay getting married. How long will it be before someone figures out a way to get the constitution abolished because it's "in the way of peoples' free right".

A lot of your examples you list I do agree with...... we are in tough times, drugs, teen pregnancy and welfare but what do they have to do with Gay Marriage? You give little to nothing to support your reason or its base. You simple say it is your right to speak your mind......well guess what....it is my right to Marry in this state, or are you again saying one thing but mean another. Here you say you are sick of people saying they have rights, and then you say the very same thing....you have the right of freedom of speak........sounds like a double standard to me. It also sounds like what's good for you is one thing, but when it comes to others it should just be the way it has always been. I would take a long look in the mirror, stop using excuses in life about others and wake up from the past you are living in. If you want to live a life that doesn't change and where the world is caught on a grip of control I would suggest the Middle East or parts of Asia they still live a life without rights. Sounds like the place you want to be???? You can't claim to have rights for yourself but then not let others have rights...,,,Once again that is what defines the good old boys club.....sounds like you have a lifetime membership!
You still haven't given any reason if two people who love each other why they should not be married? Explaim to me how does it effect you? To only use examples of problems in the world that have nothing to do with the subject is a very poor excuse. I would rather people just say I don't agree with it and leave it at that. I think you would find people to have more respect for your opinion rather than a bunch of lame excuse that have nothing to do with your disgruntlement.
Be careful what you wish for ....do you want your rights taken away from you?!?!?!?!

She's 74. She'll expire soon so it makes little difference what she thinks. Eventually the ignorant will pass on and hopefully civility and common sense will prevail.

I'm 74 because I've lived my life the right way so far. I don't go around slapping and quoting the Bible, I don't admonish people for their beliefs and I don't try to run someone elses life. I simply said I am against gays getting married. It's unnatural. I firmly believe that all it is is a way for them to have gay sex legally. How is it natural for one man to sodomize another? How is it natural for one man to bring another to orgasm with his mouth? The primary reasons we have sex organs in the first place is for procreation. I'm not saying we have to use them strictly for that purpose but when a male and female get together in bed, it's more of a natural thing than 2 men or 2 women. The whole idea of having 2 sexes is to continue the species called humans. Yes, I know how this sounds to a lot or people - like I'm some old fogey trying to impress the other posters. But I'm not. I'm very open minded to many things. But I'm sorry if I have to draw the line on this one. I AM open minded to some degree with this if someone would present a valid argument other then saying "it's our right". That's all.

The word you're looking for is spelled "their". Not "there". THERE denotes direction. THEIR denotes that it belongs to them; they own it; it's theirs.
Go back to school and get an education.
And by the way, you sound about as bright as a burned out bulb. You folks need to get a grip. It won't be long before the Good Lord will let us all know what's right or wrong.
