A) because we are not theocracy.. so "theocratic" rules, have no place in our society when it comes to laws for american citizens<quoted text> you don't want theocratic rules regarding marriage? Then why worry about civil law regarding such? Theocracy recognized it long before civil.
B)Worry bout civil laws because this is a civil matter, not a religious matter. The church does not need to be involved in marriage. If you want a church wedding fine... but not needed, not required, not necessary to be wed. All you need is a license, a person legally permited to marry and, in most states, a witness. So this IS a civil matter, not religious... which is why we should worry about civil law.
