Gays have married under the same standards as everyone else, some wanted children. Gays have equal rights, they've always been able to pass and have everything the rest of us have.

Same sex marriage is about extra rights, to protect a court mascot.

Gays can marry under the same standards as everyone else, there is no orientation test for a marriage license.

my sister and her husband couldn't have children either. They have been married for over 40 years. Should we disolve their marriae because they can't have children? I know a couple who married in their 80's. How's about we tell them they have to be divorced cause they can't have kids? And I suppose because all those children out there don't have unmarried mothers we should, what, put them to sleep like a sick puppy? Believe it or not, marriage is not required to have children, or via versa.
There's no reason to marry if the couple isn't going to have children. Obviously that eliminates homosexuals right from the beginning.

If a heterosexual couple wants to marry and have a family then it would be prudent for them to be fertility tested ahead of time instead of experiencing heartbreak later on.

Since one marries forever, you don't dissolve the union just because the couple has gone past their child-bearing phase of life.

I hope that answers your questions.

Husband/wife marriage is perfect diversity. Same sex marriage is gender segregation. Keep marriage between husband and wife, because that's life.

It became forever, two hundred years after Christ. When the church changed marriage from a civil union to a religious one. Or so I've heard. :-)

They don't disgust the Republican Gays and Lesbians at the 30 year old Log Cabin Republicans.Org LGBT organization, nor the Gay & Lesbian Republicans at GOProud.Org .

DOMA passed the Senate 85-14. The majority don't consent to changing the definition of marriage.

BTW, our Vice President, Joe Biden voted to enact DOMA into law, defining marriage as one man and one woman, when he was in the Senate. Too bad he's running with that flip flopper Obama. Back in 2008, Obama said he believed marriage was one man and one woman because marriage has a sacred aspect.

When flip flopper Miit was governor of Mass. he said, "The Republican Party Needs to do More for the Gay and Lesbian community."

When flapjack Mitt was running against Ted Kennedy for the Senate, Mitt said he supported same-sex marraige, and that he was running to the LEFT of Ted Kennedy.

BTW, the former raging Conservative Republican Bob Barr actually wrote the DOMA. Now ole Bob has repented, Just a few months ago Republican Bob was the KeyNote Speaker at the annual Gay and Lesbian Log Cabin Republican Convention in Dallas ,Texas.

The former Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehleman has stepped out of the GOP Closet and admitted that he is a homosexual.

Mehleman was also George W. Bush's National Re-Election Campaign Chairman in 2004.

I can write 10 pages on Republican Gays and Lesbians and their Republican organizations.
And then throw in a few pages on Republicans for Abortion.

Bob Barr sponsored the bill and it passed the House 342-67.

Here's some of what Barr said...

"...
Historically, marriage was considered and recognized simply as “a civil contract to which the consent of the parties is required.” Marriage was for procreation as well as building financial, social and, in some cases, political alliances. Marriage licenses, however, were established to exert control and raise revenues when the state-run Church of England decided it wanted to have a say in approving marriage partnerships. This practice spread to the American colonies, where both the church and states allowed marriage by publication of “banns.” A “bann” was a “public notice that was written, published or orally announced for three consecutive meetings at the churches of the bride and groom."
Marriage licenses themselves, however, were not issued inAmerica until the mid-1800s. Initially these licenses served a negative function -- to prohibit interracial marriages. In the intervening century and a half, such licenses have been employed to establish and enforce myriad prohibitions and benefits. By 1929 every state had adopted marriage license laws. One of the last refuges of individual liberty – common-law marriage – is being rapidly destroyed. Common-law marriage can no longer be contracted in 26 states (including in my home state of Georgia), thus forcing individuals who want to marry to seek and receive permission from the state.
...
The marriage issue, if continued to be viewed as nothing more than a tax problem or in terms of sexual preferences, will continue to serve as a political football for those advocating for state power. Its debate must be centered on fundamental individual liberty. You understand this. After all, this is the clear and fundamental mission of Log Cabin Republicans.
This is a vitally important goal -- fully consistent with the goals of our Founders and many great leaders the GOP has fielded over the decades; but which, sadly often are lost now in debates over minutia, personalities and partisanship. In promoting equal treatment under the law, the Log Cabin Republicans must not allow its adversaries to define and pigeonhole it as only a gay rights group. It is more than that – its fundamental mission is committed to the core values of this country – limited government and individual liberty in all their myriad manifestations."

Isn't it interesting when politician no longer worry about votes and only want acceptance from the media, how much they'll change? Lot's of good it does gays now, after Barr wrote the bill and Biden helped vote it through the Senate. Mouth service is cheap, votes count.
