I'll take issue with this.

If you mean two men can't make a baby together, you are correct.

However, two men or two women can in fact raise a baby together. And many of them do. Regardless of the origins of a child, raising a child to adulthood contributes to posterity.

And I'll also argue that this argument is bad for other reasons. Most obviously it is bad because not all straight couples procreate. Some choose not not, others simply can't do it. So by your own logic you would invalidate a great number of straight marriages.

I happen to have an example in my own family of a gay couple raising a child AND a straight couple that cannot procreate. So not only am I arguing from good sound reasoning and evidence I'm also arguing from actual experience.

This argument is not sound and will get you no where.

We already have a model for raising children, marriage between one man and one woman. That way a child has a mother and father.

Since marriage does not require children... your point is inane as usual

This is like saying "we already have ice cream: vanilla".

It means nothing.

Are you arguing that other models are not possible? If so, on what basis are you founding that assertion?

Terry,
Everything you say is true.
However, LGBTQ coprophiles and abortiophiles are strident advocates of taxpayer supported sodomy, STD incubation and proliferation, and abortion.
A LGBTQ marriage license is literally a license for licentiousness.
LGBTQ are still trying to get their likeminded brothers and sisters in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, for recruitment purposes.
Will mainstream media ever properly educate the masses by revealing that Jerry Sandusky and RC priest child molestors are LGBTQ Diversity people?
Still getting troll posts from Dayton?

WTF is an "abortiophile"??

Nevermind, this is silly bullsh*t.

The purpose of fishing is to get food but the government doesn't require you to eat fish to get a fishing license.

No many people fish for enjoyment... catch and release... So the government knows that fishing may resort in giving you food... but does not have to.

Hmm...your posts generally are in opposition to marriage equality. But here you seem to be arguing for it. Just change some of your words:

"The purpose of marriage is to make babies but the government does not require you to make babies in order to get a marriage license."

So why can't Adam and Steve get a marriage license? If Bob's fishing pole is missing an essential component such as fishing line does that mean he can't get a fishing license?

Not that I buy the premise. The "purpose" of marriage is whatever society wants it to be. We invented the concept, we codified it in various places such as law and religion. We can change it to suit our evolving needs. It is not written in stone.

But even at that, if we recognize gay marriages it actually does not in any fundamental way change what marriage current IS. And that is why your side is having a terrible time coming up with a coherent argument that will stand up in a court of law.

The state is prohibited from recognizing same sex marriage; is Kentucky marriage is gender diverse with a perfect 1:1 affirmative action. Sorry same sex couples don;t make the standards. Sucks to be you.

Dude, you are incredibly dense. I've debated dumber people, but you take the cake for robotic dullness.

I've made a zillion arguments against your point of view and you haven't addressed them at all. I take that as a sign that you can't.

This is no debate; ad hominem is fallacy and Yiago can't keep up.

Now the argument, why change gender diverse marriage to bring segregation? Same sex marriage is gender apartheid marriage.

A) Yiago is not only keeping up but beating your ass logically
B) your gender diverse "argument" has nothing to do with the subject. Which is why two u.s. citizens are denied the right to enter into a civil contract with the person of their choosing, while two other citizens are allowed to.

You can use your silly innane gender apartheid catchphrase as much as you want... still does not change the main issue

So...everyone should be free to pursue happiness in their own way, just keep it away from the kids?

You realize that is an extremely offensive and bigoted point of view, right? I'm not trying to insult you. I will assume you just haven't thought it through. But when we want to keep something away from the children it is because the thing is somehow dangerous. Two people who love each other and get married is not dangerous.

Think about this a little more. Imagine you are the one being told to stay away from the children.

I agree. You make an excellent point. We do not take children into bars, because what they would see is not healthy for their developement.
It's also the reason that we have a ratings system for movies. If homosexual men want to hump each other in public (I've seen it) that's their business, but you are right to say that it's not good for children to see.
It's a good thing that you hold the interest of chidren above the selfish self interest of certain kinds of perverts. Good for you.

Wow what a silly statement
A) Ok so you wittnessed a crime.... it is no worse than if a m.f. had sex in public...both equal crimes both are something children (and adults for that matter) should not see happen .
B) Do you REALLY believe that when (not if but WHEN) ssm become law ofthe land that more homosexuals will have sex in public...
C) Tell me one person who is advocating open sex in public... but that doesn't matter if you try to use baseless fear to prop up your view.
D) You "seen it"... where, why were you watching?... did you do anything about it.... or just stare,

Yes, I have seen gay men humping each other in public on multiple occasions. But, I have lived all over this country also. The most embarrassing time was in Miami when two gay men mounted each other like dogs in front of my wife and I.
You ask what I did? You keep walking and keep your mouth shut.

Most rural Americans are very naive about how homosexuals behave in areas where large concentrations of them live. I do not hate gays.

I also do not believe in lying to society about what homosexuality is. It is not an equivalent alternative to heterosexuality. It is a subcultural sexual behavior that some are desparately attempting to normalize in the eyes of the public.

Opinion and profanity; not profound.

.
come on now wrote:
B) your gender diverse "argument" has nothing to do with the subject.
The subject is redefining marriage so two men or two women could marry each other; gender segregation marriage. Marriage in Kentucky is one man and one woman, perfect affirmative action. That keeps it fair.

I support your right to enter into a civil contract; civil union and domestic partnerships are perfect compromise. Marriage is more than a contract.

Marriage is gender integrated, for the children. Marriage is a family with a mother and a father. Marriage often starts with a family made of husband and wife. Same sex couples don't qualify.

The main issue is upholding Kentucky law and passing a Constitutional amendment to support DOMA.

I think the question here is not what we believe for ourselves but how can we impose our beliefs on others just because we do or don't agree. I repect that some believe in one man one woman but I also respect that others may choose differently. People are "free" here in America (many men and women fought and died to ensure this much) to choose their own lifestyle. Bottom line, it doesn't really matter what I believe, to others. I have only myself to answer for.
