Marriage is between a man and a women to keep existence and mankind going.. It is wrong and should be kept to themselves as it always was..Do we still have guidlines in life anymore or is life just a free-for-all?? Im not telling them not to be gay,a persons sexual preference is not my business, but it should not be publicized and honored..

MARRIAGE
A contract made in due form of law, by which a free man and a free woman reciprocally engage to live with each other during their joint lives, in the union which ought io exist between husband and wife. By the terms freeman and freewoman in this definition are meant, not only that they are free and not slaves, but also that they are clear of all bars to a lawful marriage.

I think gay should have to right to marry, but because I hate a couple of gays at the moment, I would tend to vote NO, just to piss them off and try to srcew them a holes.

No group of U.S. citizens has ANY right to deny EQUAL rights that are guaranteed under the U.S.Constitution automatically extended to ALL U.S. citizens. No existing provision for creating 2nd class citizenship exists within the U.S.constitution!

I think they are entitled to a legally recognized civil union, but marriage carries religious connotations, with most religions opposed to homosexuality. Most gays however are a-holes and will insist on their union to be called marriage, thus the squabble. I've known many gays over the tears and many are great people, but their leadership is full of nasty, contentious jerks. Not religious myself, but to me these gay rights groups are purposely attacking the beliefs of the religious people here, and as a result I will no longer defend them.

They also demand exorbitant sums for AIDS research, receiving an incredibly disproportionate amount of health care dollars, all because they don't like practicing safe sex. Google "AIDS bug chasers" for an eye opening account of just how twisted some of these people are.

I don't think the government should be involved in ANY marriages, the shouldn't even have weddings at City Hall.
I don't even any private company or employer should give any special or different things to a person because they are married.
We are all individuals and should be treated and given the same equally by our Government, Companies, and Employers.

Any marriages gay or straight, should be private and done at a church or a place like a church.

Well the libertarian in me agrees with you Jessica, but the reality is that very few (quality) woman will settle for anything less than marriage.

There are also situations like hospital visitation rights and various other scenarios where either a blood relationship or a legally recognized union is required to have standing before the powers that be allow any intercession on behalf of another.

Why shouldn't gay couples marry???? They fall in love, want to raise families and all the rest of the stuff that goes w/being married. All these so-called Christians never act very Christian as far as I can see. "Christianity" = HYPOCRISY unlimited

Marrriage is a Civil Right in a Democratic Republic where tyranny of a mob majority is forbidden to discriminate against any minority of American citizens.
