There shouldn't be an explanation for why people should have equal rights.

It shouldn't have anything to with religion. If people love eachother, let them get married!

It's basic human rights. Can we please break the chain of discrimination in the United States? we talk about the battle for rights like it is in the past, but one can't even think about this country without thinking about how much it puts down almost every different group of people

Everyone has a right to love who they want to love. The greatest form of love is marriage. Let it happen.

All people deserve the same basic rights to marry whomever they love. This is 2012, we need to get it together and stop discriminating against people in our own country.

It's amazing that this BLOG only shows the Pro-Gay point of view. Typical neo-liberal politics by WSU freaks. Homosexuality is a sexual deviancy that is equal to child molestation.

Mark, you are perhaps the most disquieting example of parochialism that I have ever come across. Your above quote is an outright, downright, forthright poison for the minds of posterity. To equate homosexuality with child molestation is among the most disturbing convictions ever to reach this board. It is becoming clear to me by reading your bathetic claptrap that you are someone to be feared and avoided. Your thinking is dangerously distorted and I am inclined to submit that your homophobia is a sloppy guise for your own masculinity complex and your overriding emotion is fear.

That is precisely the problem as well as the treat secret of American manhood: We are afraid of other men. You are afraid your own masculinity won't measure up. Your homophobia is the fear that other men will unmask us, emasculate us, and reveal to the world that you aren't the man you pretend to be. There is nothing essential about being either male or female. NOTHING! We are born male and female, and through years of enculturation and hegemonic ideology, we learn to be men and women. It is so clear to me that your fear makes you ashamed, because the realization of fear in ourselves (yourself) is unsettling proof that you aren't the manly man you pretend to be. You are afraid of your shame, Mark. If these ideas of yours are religiously founded, then that only makes you even scarier. "One that ruffles in a manly pose for all his timid heart," (Yeats). You are afraid of being ashamed. You have my pity but so too do have my sincere concern that you will pass on these ideas to subsequent generations.

Men must get over it already. We should not have to be afraid to cease being a man among men. These are the thoughts of deviance and mental illness, not homosexuality. I would love to hear back from you even quasi-intelligent rebuttal. Because I am always willing to challenge my assumptions when faced with a better argument, one with more sense, logic, and that does not compare child molestation to homosexuality, which are diametrically different at every step of logical consideration. THink before you speak, Mark. I am not gay, but I truly believe your homophobia is a deep-rooted fear of emasculation in a patriarchal society in which masculinity itself is a social construction. Again, read something other than the bible.Because your sort of outward persecution of homosexuality is tantamount to racism, sexism, and if these ideas are taught to your children or anyone else's, you are engaged in a very real and very toxic form of child abuse that should scare the $%&@ our of anyone to whom you impose this nonsense.

Because love is love, and gay marriage never hurt anybody. How can it be that gay marriage "ruins the sanctity of marriage" while cheating, marrying for money, and marrying for a few months before divorcing doesn't?

Everyone deserves equal rights, and there is no reason two people of the same gender should be excluded from that.

I may not be gay myself, but I'm not a jerk. Let them get married.
