Same-sex couples lose 100's of benefits that heterosexual couples receive. As for the "sanctity" of heterosexual marriage, why do 52% of current marriages end in divorce? It's a civil need for religion to get involved at all.

Heterosexual couples produce children.

Divorce statistics are wildly overblown. You're going to see that homosexuals divorce just as much, if not more.

What does that have to do with anything? If that's your argument, then no one should be allowed to marry. Also, what about old people or infertile people getting married? They can't have children either so should they be denied the right to marriage as well?

Your argument doesn't hold at all. Stop being filled with hate and bigotry and let people love each other.

I'd like to get married some day, to another woman whom I can love.

Oh, yeah,'cause what the human race needs is MORE children that it can't afford to support. We're already overpopulated, sweetheart. Oh, and besides, homosexual couples could have kids artificially. Ever heard of sperm/egg donation? Male gay couples could have a surrogate with a different egg.

Please read my entire post before getting mad.

I believe in God, I believe that homosexuality is not what was intended, and I believe that if you are homosexual that there are possible underlying reasons for that.

That being said, I also try not to judge, and feel that if you have found love, that you should be able to express that love in every way possible. I do not look at gay people as being weird, unstable, scary, or unethical. And if I don't agree with your choice of lifestyle, so what? I would no more push my beliefs on these people than I would want them pushing theirs on me. I see no harm in allowing two people in love to cherish each other by pledging their love in marriage.

Marriage isn't at all what it was intended to be anymore anyway; all of us "straight" people have turned it into a huge joke. And usually one of the traditional male/females takes down the whole family that they "love" with their sins. So many marriages end these days because it means nothing to the people who can do it. Don't get along? Get divorced, why work it out. Find someone else attractive? Sleep with them and then if you get caught get divorced.

Exactly what are we protecting?
