Marriage is between a man and women. It is a strictly Biblical institution. The Bible doesn't condone homosexuality much less the legal union,

Straight folks aren't doing much to uphold the value of marriage, so I don't see how gays could hurt it any!

Religous marriage is a union between man and woman. PERIOD. However, I have never seen anything religous about getting married in a courthouse. I believe what scares people is that they think homosexuality is something people will practice because they know others are doing it.

Our greedy insurance program will not work if all homosexual couples got married. Money, of course, controls many things.

It shouldn't be our choice who someone marries. It's not my place to tell someone who they can and cannot be with. People in Scott County believe EVERYONE should believe the same they do, eat the same foods they do, wear the same clothing as they do.. People are different, that's what makes this world unique. What makes me mad the most is when someone brings up the bible about gays/lesbians. Sure it's against it, but so is judging someone. If we all worried about our own problems instead of worrying about who the neighbor is dating the world would be one step closer to being a better place. I know who my maker is, I believe what I believe. But that doesn't mean the man down the road has the same beliefs. Some believe we come from monkeys, some believe in worshiping the devil. Do I get in their face and bash them for it? No. Because it's not my life. Same goes with gays/lesbians.

MArriage used to be a religious institution.. now, due to the definitions in benefits, taxes, legal status, divorces, etc, it's purely a legal matter. Which to me, means you should not discriminate against anyone.

Im a guy and I am gay, I think it should be legal to marry who you want and who you love you can sit here and throw your relgious believes out at everyone all you want. I know how I feel inside I know it wasnt a choice, Believe me I pray everyday for change, Its hard living a life liek this and I wouldnt wish it on anyone. I just wished I were born normal. I know alot of you will have alot of bullsh*t reactions to this and thats ok to. I love God and I know who he is. I dont think Im going to hell for being "gay". if I am there are alot of others to follow behind me for thier wrongs as well. its no more wrong for me to be gay than it is for someone to be a drug addict, a drunk, adulter, etc.

Well I will tell you that God didn't make you gay, It is the sin of the world and God doesn't make something when it is goes against his word. It is this sinful world that we live in that make people choose something that is not God's word.

Aggravated2-

How would you know? I don't know. The person posting under "a guy" struggles with his sexuality, and regrets it. Don't you think he would change it if he could? So many people feel the need to judge. I am a religous person, and it pains me to see so many people on this topix site giving religion a bad name by being arrogant, judgemental, and condenscending.

I am not being arrogant and not giving religion a bad name. If you are religious then you know God doesn't make someone like this. If he is true in wanting to change then he will have to leave in God's hands and it will happen. I am not judging cause that is not my job it is God. You calling me judgmental is kinda like the pot calling the kettle black cause that is what you did on me.

I know what you are saying as far as my judging others. But this person basically is saying that they feel their sexuality is wrong, and that they pray for a change. It just seems like you are kicking him while he is down.

No hard feelings.

If you don't like gay marriage blame straight people. They're the ones that keep having gay babies.

I am religious and I know the God I believe in makes everyone different and loves everyone. Nothing that anyone preaches at me will change my mind that He doesn't love a gay person just the same as He loves you or me. But I suppose all the bible belt people in this county have never committed a sin. How is it when one of our neighbors, a man and woman, can have affairs on one another and people around here ignore it.. Where are the people preaching at them for it? No where. But when a woman and woman get married and actually stay faithful to one another they get bashed for it? So if everyone is going to jump onto someone for being different because the bible doesn't like it, what about adultery? Let's not bash one over the other if both in the bible are wrong..

I consider myself to be conservative in my political views, with maybe a hint or two of libertarian views. With that said I must also add that I do not necessarily condone homosexuality, but I also do not believe that it is the federal government's place to say whether or not a same sex couple can or cannot be joined in some sort of civil union or marriage if you want to call it that. It doesn't effect my rights as an individual whatsoever if the gay couple down the street wants to get married anymore than it would if the devout christian couple next door wants to put a big wooden cross in their front yard. Our country was founded on the concept of the rule of law, not the rule of the majority. If you were to take a vote in this county of whether or not the people wished to "allow" same sex marriages, and the people voted 4,998 to 2, that still doesn't make it right by our constitution or the laws of our land. This is an issue that does nothing but distract us from the issues that directly effect us on a daily basis.
