Very small measures can have great consequences.

Every word I write is a reflection of my mind, opinion and belief, I am defined by my words and actions.

Every action has a reaction, reason seven against same sex marriage. The definition of marriage is not a small matter, big measures have huge and sometimes catastrophic consequences.

23,880 reasons against same sex marriage, and more tomorrow.

just how does my relationship affect yours, brian?
i live half a world away from you (since you previously claimed to live in germany) and have no social or business interactions with you. we're not related. the only person directly affected by my relationship is the family i share my home with.

and trust me, your relationship has no bearing upon our home and lives.

How would I feel about economic collapse, riots in the streets, corruption and abuse? How does it hurt me personally?

Gosh, since my marriage won't be affected by your disaster and ruin in your state, go right ahead! Let your court or pandering pols radically redefine marriage, no skin off my neck. Wait a sec', marriage is universal, it exists in every society. Let me ask, how don't you think a public marriage affects the community?

Same sex marriage is bad because it creates a false isolationism, an estrangement from society, culture and it's values. Some proponents don't even understand public display of homosexuality is taboo, they are ignorant of stigma, morality, ethics, custom and law. Same sex marriage is stupid.

Marriage has always been husband and wife, throughout history and on every continent. Just because "separation of church and state", a bizarre view of Constitution and law, does not mean every religious law is wrong, because it is a religious law. We have Biblical injunctions against murder and treason; in some of our glorious 50 states, we have Biblical punishment and penitence. <quoted text>

There is nothing wrong with religious and government law coinciding, that's how society functions. I really don't care about Sue's faith, I care about how she disrupts social order by promoting same sex marriage. People's words and actions reflect faith, not self proclamation. I seldom call people "liar", I'm not Christian and I doubt Sue is a Christian; better she is mistaken or ignorant, maybe it's my mistake.
Well, Bri, since history goes back far longer than records have been provided, obviously no one can know that marriage has ALWAYS been between a man and a woman. Indeed, the concept of marriage may well be a new invention to relationships.

You are combining religion and law when discussing a ritual that is typically religious based. America is not a theocracy. The steps you take to prove your logic are flawed. Since you continue to, well, as my mother would put it, beat a dead horse back to life, rather than address the fallacies which have been pointed to you, I take it that you are not open to discussion. Since it is no longer a discussion but merely repetition, I will move on.

What fallacy, that "history goes back far longer than records have been provided" is incorrect, before history is prehistory. There are depictions of husband/wife marriage, relief art and sculpture, thousands of years old and no similar history for same sex marriage.

Arguments against same sex marriage don't need to be based on religion; the added expense of a new entitlement class of same sex spouses is bad enough on it's own.

Same sex marriages are not to blame for all of the above quoted items. That would all be due to "closed minds".

if you want to force people to live the way you want them to live, start your own country. it's called a dictatorship.

It's called the law of the land. Keep marriage male/female; DOMA or a Constitutional amendment, whatever the court will understand.

DNA spells out the husband/wife significance of marriage with XX and XY. Chromosomes define marriage as male/female, through human culture.

there's already court cases in the system to hve doma repealed and at least one judge has already declared it to be unconstitutional. i repeat that for probably the 5th or 6th time, just for you, bi.

and i read today that there's legislative action to have doma repealed as well.

sort of like :
freeing blacks from slavery
allowing blacks to vote
allowing women to vote
allowing different races to marry
allowing couples to decide for themselves about birth control

and yesterday we saw on cnn where there's legislation to take doma away....and today i heard on the news about how panetta is doing away with dadt.....indeed. change happens in society as people become more educated and have a larger view of the world.

Universally, marriage is between male and female, until the past 10 years. There are ancient arguments against slavery, racism, disfranchisement of women, Moses had an interracial marriage. Why are their no old arguments for same sex marriage?

Same sex marriage proponents want to force people the way they want, radically redefining marriage. They want to turn your religious leaders into bigots, they are trying to vilify every opponent; they disguise themselves as "tolerant", until it comes to your religious convictions.

They will give the same sex spouses of gay schoolteachers Viagra to cure sexual dysfunction. And the punchline, it's paid by your taxes.

How does same sex marriage not hurt society?

there was more slavery in ancient times, there was more racism in ancient times and there was same sex marriage in ancient times.

same sex marriage proponents want the government and neighbors out of deciding who does what and how in a person's home. same sex proponents want the adults in america to be able to choose for themselves without the dictatorship of someone else's vision ruling their personal lives.

and viagra's widely distributed to all sorts of people at their doctor's discretion. since when is it ok for the government to step into a doctor's examination room, particularly if that person has their own insurance or is paying for their own visits and meds?

same sex marriage allows for adults to make decisions for themselves. it forces the government further out of our lives. since when is it good or desirable to have a larger government?

This is the big lie, in fact they want to get in everybody's business, have everybody out no matter what.

We are talking about the taxpayer revenue going to buy Viagra for gay schoolteachers. We are talking about taxpayer revenue helping lesbians adopt and paying for their infertility treatment. It's all about the government, giving away individual sovereignty to new forces of social engineering.

We are at a crossroads. If taxes and spending increase we are doomed. Same sex marriage is the same problem, writ in culture instead of economics.

bi likes to lie about that ....he professes to be a tea party member, yet he thinks teh government has a right to step into our bedrooms.
if someone has their own money or their own insurance you have no right to decide what sort of medical treatment they get. get out of people's exam rooms, bi. you may like the view, but it's quite peculiar that you want to see what's going on in there.

There is no law stopping gays from buying insurance for their partner, and no government subsidy. That would change with same sex marriage, it's spend, spend, spend taxpayer revenue.

Yeah, I guess we shouldn't add another label, such as "bigots", to "religious leaders". They've already got enough on their plate just dealing with the label "pedophile".

Oh, that's right.....they've only recently begun dealing with the "pedophile" priests. Prior protocol was to sweep it under the carpet. Gotta love that holier than thou s**t.

It's kind of ironic how religion forbids homosexuality and yet these "pedophile" priests seem to gravitate towards innocent little boys. Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

It looks to me like the oath of celibacy causes far more damage to society than same sex marriage ever could.
