There is no reason to restrict people, regardless of sexuality or gender, of marriage. There are more important issues out there that needs to be addressed and gay marriage should not be one of them.

One need look no further than a brief filed by the Obama administration's Department of Justice, defending the Federal Defense of Marriage Act in order to determine the correct conclusion on this issue.(This was before the DOJ flip flopped on this issue).

With respect to due process and equal protection, that brief concluded:

"While the Supreme Court has held that the right to marry is 'fundamental,' that right has not been held to encompass the right to marry someone of the same sex. To the contrary, in Baker v. Nelson, the Supreme Court dismissed a claim that the Constitution provides a right to same-sex marriage for lack of a 'substantial federal question.' In Baker, the Minnesota Supreme Court had rejected the contention that a State statute limiting marriage to one man and one woman violated federal due process and equal protection principles.

"The [Minnesota Supreme] court found no 'fundamental right' to same-sex marriage and concluded that the traditional definition of marriage effects no 'invidious discrimination,' and that the definition easily withstood rational-basis review.

"...[A] same-sex couple sought review of those rulings [before the United States Supreme Court].... Upon review, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal "for want of a substantial federal question."

"... Accordingly, Baker stands for the proposition that equal protection principles do not bar the States from limiting marriage to one man and one woman. This precedent is binding on the federal courts."

"Memorandum of Points and Authorities In Support of Defendant United States of America's Motion to Dismiss" Smelt v. United States of America, SACV09-00286DOC(MLGx)(C.D. Ca. August 3, 2009)(citations omitted).

With respect to God's law, it is beyond question that marriage is a union of a man and a woman and not a same-sex union.

Genesis 1:27-28:

"27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

"28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."

Genesis 2:23-24:

"23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

"24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

Although marriage is recogized by the state, marriage was defined by God as the union of one man and one woman. Same sex marriage also cannot be reconciled with God's law because that law, in both the Old and New Testaments, repeatedly condemns homosexual sex as sin.

Male-female marriage pre-existed the state. It is the moral foundation of our families and our society. A supposed "right" to same sex marriage is, therefore, not only contrary to the constitution, it is contrary to the traditional morality of our Judeo-Christian culture. There is no such right.

quoting the bible to defend your stand against homosexuals is like a muslim quoting the koran for drinking alcohol. How offended would you be if someone started that argument here.

My only stand against homosexual marriage is that we are going downhill on healthcare and married people get more healthcare. I am single and can't get the healthcare or marriage benefits for marrying my cat or celebrating being single.

Kind of funny how everytime someone enjoys depraved and sick behaviour that the person who is against such sickness is called a bigot....if this is the case that you douches want gays around then i feel i should be able to lawfully have more then one wife.....what about child molestors? Are they now allowed to do unnatural acts as well? When does the sickness stop and the common sense begin around here?
