Gay Marriage Debate - Monroe, NC
Do you support gay marriage?
#1 Jan 17, 2012
Two consenting adults should be able to do as they please without the whole world interfering. Its not like their private life is affecting anyone else in any way, so why the hell not?

I support same-sex marriage because I would like to get married some day to the woman I love.
All through out high school and even now, I deal with a lot of discrimination based on my sexuality. It's mostly for religious reasons. Many people who immigrated here came to escape religious persecution and today I am being persecuted for my sexuality due to religious reasons. I am being told I'm going to hell, given death threats, and have even been physically assaulted due to loving another woman.
That in itself is immoral. Marriage is a basic human right that is between two (or more) consenting human adults. Given that it is a human right, it is not something it should be voted upon. I should already have this right.
When you claim that you need to protect "traditional marriage", I'm not sure which marriage you mean. Is that marriage where a woman is your property? How about marriage between a woman and her rapist? A child and her adult husband? A dead corpse to another dead corpse (China)? Two people of the same race marrying? Marriage has changed over the years, so have the traditions that are rooted in pagan traditions.(Carrying the bride through the door way, and throwing rice for example.) Marriage has been around far longer than Christianity has been.
I want equality and liberty... I want America to be what it proclaims to be: a land for justice, freedom and liberty for all. I want America to be the home of the brave instead of being nestled in deep seated fears on any non-heterosexual person out there, and backing it up with religion.

Who am I to say what anyone else can and cannot do? The 'sanctity of marriage' argument is ridiculous, and really, are we still living in ancient times? I wasn't aware that we lived in a country that everyone's religion views affected any one else.

The only people affected by gays getting married are the gays. Everyone has the right to be happy and marry the person they love

How would same sex marriage change or have any effect at all on your life
#8 Dec 9, 2012
Liberalism is absurd.

Same sex marriage isnt about 2 loving people spending their lives together, NO ONE cares if they do that. What gays want is to force people to call them married, and that aint happening. The marriage part is to attempt to force religous people to recognize their union as godly, and it isnt.
Homosexuality may come to people naturally, but that doesnt make it normal, any more than pedophilia or beastialty, or any other abnormal mental condition.

"Same sex marriage isnt about 2 loving people spending their lives together"
This is the only statement in your post that is true. Cohabitation, both ss and os has been going on, is going on, and when (not if, but when) ssm is law, it will continue to go on without many people caring. Which is ironic when you consider most people against ssm use the Bible to defend their stance, yet do not say word one about mf living together before marriage. They want laws against ssm because the Bible says it is wrong... yet Do not ask for laws prohibiting cohabitation before marriage, which the Bible says is wrong also. I think that is, at best, called having a double standard, at worst being a hypocrite.
"What gays want is to force people to call them married, and that aint happening."
And here is where your argument goes off the track. The homosexual community does not want to "force" anyone to call them married. They want equal rights as american citizens. They want the right to enter into a civil contract between two consenting adults. Such contract the government gives certain benefits, both legal and monetary. This contract is offered to a certain group of citizens yet not to all citizens. To do t his the government must show overwhelming states interest in denying the citizen that right... The government has yet to do that... why because there is no interest .
"The marriage part is to attempt to force religous people to recognize their union as godly, and it isnt."
Wrong again. When, not if but when, ssm becomes law of the land, religions will NEVER be force to recognize it as "godly". Called seperation of church and state. The government can not tell a church what to believe. The church will have EVERY right to deny marrying a ssc. So ssm has no effect on the church what so ever... but nice strawman you put up.
"Homosexuality may come to people naturally, but that doesnt make it normal"
You were so close to being right on this one...
Homosexuality does, not may, come to people naturally. No one chooses their sexuality. No one chooses to be attracted to the opposite sex, or the same sex.
Now while homosexuality is not common... it does not make it abnormal. Since homosexualty has been found in literally hundreds of animals, it is not abnormal... just not common. Major difference.
Now if we go by your "not normal" stance... what rights do you want to deny someone who was born blind, or with a deformaty? These people were not born "normal". So obviously you believe that if you were not born "normal" it is ok to treat you differently and not with the same rights as American citizens.... so what right do you want to deny them?

Call it what it is, sexual retardation.
#12 Dec 11, 2012
No by gods way.you ever seen a gay dog , cat. Cow ,and so one . Your not born that way you chose to be like that.but to each ,own
#13 Dec 11, 2012
Whats right... you are wrong.
A) here is a list of animals (mammals, as the entire list is MUCH longer) that have been DOCUMENTED to have homosexual in them
You will notice how dogs, cats and cattle (cows)... make the list....
B) You say "Your not born that way you chose to be like that."... when did you choose to be hetero?.... Not when did you first start noticing the opposite sex and get all tingly in your nether regions... but when did you sit down, look at all the posibilities, weigh the pros and cons, and then come to a life altering decicision that from that point on you would be attracted to the opposite sex and be a hetero sexual?....
I have asked this to all people who claim homosexuality is a choice....yet no one has told me the date and circumstances under which they chose to be hetero..... wonder why....
#14 Dec 11, 2012
If you don't like gay marriage..don't get gay married. Otherwise, let everyone else do as they please. I wish someone cared that much when I married my ex. Somebody should have held a protest outside of THAT event!
#15 Dec 11, 2012

No just reading facts (I know a concept which is foreign to you) from various scientific proven studies. Funny, people like you want the world to follow what is said in a book which has no proof whatsoever, yet when confronted with proven facts... you laugh....
So tell me again why you believe it is ok to not allow two sets of citizens the right to enter into a civil contract with the person of their choice, one which the government gives certain perks, both monitary and legal, all the while allowing two other people to enter into it. Per the 14th the state must show an overwhelming interest when denying rights given to one group to another ... so what is the overwhelming interest here.

The answer is civil unions not marriage. Let the Christians have the term "marriage" in their little old worship churches where they believe in demons, spirits, angels and messiahs and a meaner than hell God who just wants to control your life. Total Bullsh-t. No modern person believes those pagan fairytales. Given a few more generations and Christianity will die out. Already there are churches closing in every city. Bible colleges are closing down for lack of students. Look at where people are going on Sunday morning. It's not to church! Modern people like us like to live our own lives without the restrictions of some religion telling us how to live. If I want to have sex with my girlfriend I'm not bothering a goddamn soul. Even the messiah of our generation Barrack Obama supports the gay life. You old fools can go striaght to your hell. Lisa

" The answer is civil unions not marriage."
Sorry wrong answer. Until the laws change making civil unions equal in ever way shape and form to marriage c.u. are not the answer. I hope you are aware of the MANY MANY inequities between c.u. and marriage. If not I will be glad to point them out.
"Even the messiah of our generation Barrack Obama supports the gay life. You old fools can go striaght to your hell. Lisa"
First of all the messiah of our generation... only if you worship the devil.
Second are you really that naive to believe the Big O supports ssm? In 08 he announced he was against it. In 4 years of president he did nothing to repeal DOMA. Yes he told his justice department not to defend it... which is unconstitutional at best. That is what the doj of for defending the laws of the land bad as they may be. So in 2012, when his poll #'s were as low in not lower than ANY incumbat president in recent history, he all the sudden has a "change of heart" and is not supporting ssm. Shored up the gay vote and many liberal votes. My bet is, if SCOTUS does not knock it down before the end of his term, the big O will do NOTHING about DOMA. At best he was pandering for votes.
