Living in LA and being against same-sex marriage is an oxymoron of the highest proportion.

There are many legal benefits based upon marriage. These rights shouldn't be prohibited from some citizens simply because their marriage would be to a same-gender partner. Government should stay out of marriage but if legal advantages are linked by law to marriage, then let all adults be able to marry. It's not religion, just fairness.

Do you love your neighbor who believes in the devil?

I think it's unfair that these homosexuals are raping morality!

You may not like homosexuality but adults know how to let other people live as they wish. It doesn't "rape" your morality unless a gay marriage somehow harms you or limits your life chances. The trial failed to show that anyone suffers harm when gay citizens get equal rights.

I'd like to see more personal freedoms all around: legalize drugs, prostitution, motorcycling without a helmet, all the "sins" that offend some people but are enjoyed by others. The less government, the better. Ideally, the state will get out of any involvement in marriage.

To whom it may concern:

Many create gods and Christs in their own image and even quote from the scriptures merely so they can continue with their personal and political agendaNothing whatsoever to do with CHRIST, SERMON ON THE MOUNT ANYONE? but everything to do with EGO. Im reminded of the time when george (born again Christian?) bush constantly said that he spoke to god when it was obviously the egotistical god he created in his own image.

It just really really bothers me that they want to use the term "marry". Couldn't they call it "merry". And isn't that more in line with "gay"?
"Marriage" should apply to wedded heterosexual white Christian American couples only. Everyone else is a pervert anyway; even me, especially me.

All who signed the Constitution were Bible believers. "In God We Trust" on the money... "Under God...Indivisible.." in the Pledge of Allegiance. There are uncountable references to "faith" in all of our laws. Murder, Theft, False Testimony, Rape, Marriage, Divorce...etc are based on laws in the Bible. It's mockery to allow gays to be "married"...not because they are unequal but because they are sexually immoral and against God, who created marriage. If you didn't know this you're slow or just ignorant. A fool will read this a million times and never understand it. Oh, well.

You should be able to marry who you love. God is not as judgemental as we are. And yes, the bible was written by men. And yes, the bible is outdated. And no, you will not go to hell for falling in love with someone of your same gender. And yes, religion is just like a sport... its built out of fanatism. And no, being gay is not as bad as the 70% of straight married individuals who cheat on eachother. And yes, I am a straight man living with my girlfriend and I don't believe I'm living in sin. I love her, she loves me. What else can God ask from us? Lastly, no... i don't believe marriage's purpose should be to procreate. It should be for you to choose the person you're going to grow old with and love forever. Children should be optional.
Joe you got it all wrong... maybe if you read the story about sodom an gomoriah God burned up every homesexual that were there and killed all of the childrens as well he completely destroyed that whole city. Get your facts right about God God gave them a chance to repent and change their way and they did not just like you nasty gay folks are doing now. God is going to destroy san francisco and all of the gays will know that God means business. you and all of your gay friend are going to burn in hell if you don't repent and stop put-in your p in another man but there is nothing normal about being gay... nasty and diseased

I understand it. The founding fathers were not fundamentalists. A religious fundamentalist would never come up with something like our "Bill of Rights" or the concept of "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".
These concepts were written to protect us from the wills of people like religious fundamentalists.
Religious fundamentalism is reactionary ignorance.

It also seems like all these gays and lezbos are just wanting attention...thats all they want, and to cause problems. They just need to go back to their closets and quit causing problems

The Constitution signers were mostly Deists, who believed in a general God (Creator), but not the Hebrew Old Testament God who makes rules about daily behavior and destroys cities with fireballs.

It's the difference between 1000 BC and 1776 AD.

Besides, why would any God create people with homosexual desires and love for same-sex partners if it is unnatural and immoral?

Are you saying God would create Evil? Uh-oh, He (or She) is gonna fireball you for saying that!
