Marriage is an institution created by God to be between a man and a woman (Those whom don't wish to be married live together anyway).

That would be a fine acceptable answer... IF our country was a theocracy. America was found on the concept of the SEPARATION of Religion and State. Therefore, any law that is based off of any religion is unconstitutional, therefore the fact that straight people can get married and gay people can't is unconstitutional.

Why does theology only affect the lives of some, but not all? Why are heterosexual atheist, pagan, hindu, buddhist, other non-Christian affiliates allowed to get married, but not a christian homosexual couple? If it's such a "God-fearing" institution, why is all the hate devoted to homosexuals? Marriage is more than just a religious phenomenon, it's about love. And people in love should be entitled to all the benefits that come with it.

Marriage is a piece of paper, and tax rights. If they are living together like they married, they deserve the text rights of married people.

It's an institution that is evolving - it used to be a contract between a woman's father and her husband-to-be, a property exchange. And until recently, it was limited to those of the same race. To you still fight for those bigoted standards? The constraints of marriage are lessening as society becomes less of afraid of those that are "different." Open up your mind!

As a gay woman I would love to be able to one day marry my girlfriend and have a family. Separate but equal is no longer an acceptable answer in my eyes.

It should be legal. the government should have no say it who should be together. Everyone should have their own personal decision on if they want to get married to another person which is a HUGE decision that some in utah may take to lightly. But anyways its a big enough decision for individuals, gay or straight no one should have to ask politicians for permission. Religion should have absolutely no say in the matter.

I'm gay, I do not think gay marriage needs to be called 'marriage'. People who oppose to gay marriage keep re-defining "marriage". So why not have civil unions? We're all American and just because I'm gay doesn't mean I should be denied the same legal rights as you, give me my rights, and don't call it marriage, I think everyone can agree on that on some level. It's called compromise people.

Marriage is between a man and a woman. Just look in the dictionary, and see if it says anything about marriage invoving same-sex couples.

"Equality" means that certain people shouldn't hae their own "special" rules to marriage.
