I'm a 15 year old young gay man living in this town of Cruces. While I can't wait to leave, I was disappointed to see the opposition to gay marriage. You better believe whether you support gay marriage or not, you've got a gay and our rainbow flag wasn't a white flag incase you're confused.

And there's more where that came from.

I am straight and I am married. Does that effect anyone? does anyone give a damn? probably not.
Is my being married effecting YOUR marriage? probably not.
I have health insurance that I pay for out of my paycheck. Is this in anyway, shape or form, affecting your health care? nope, nada
Do I have a right to my own religious beliefs? yep
Soo... If I was gay...why would any of those answers change?
Why is being gay and wanting to be with someone and taking them as your legal mate such a threat to anyone? If you say, because it damages the sanctity of marriage..how? how does someone else's marriage effect yours? unless you or your spouse are cheating with another, or you or your spouse abuse each other,THAT damages the sanctity of marriage.
If you say..god is against it. Well isnt that up to the person and their god? Would you like someone telling you what you could and couldnt believe in?
If you say,,well, my taxes will go up to pay for their health care. really? Did you know, there are more STRAIGHT people on welfare that get medicare then there are gays? mostly single women and children.
If you say..well, I think its disgusting. now no one said you had to watch or participate. Do you want people to judge YOU on what goes on behind YOUR bedroom door?
ok..heres one ... you say gays shouldnt be allowed to adopt children, because they would confuse the child and make them gay. Really? then how come most gays come from two parents that are straight?
AND you say being gay is a choice? Did YOU choose to be straight? and why would anyone choose a lifestyle that is so feared, hated, people have been killed over?
I am straight. I am married. I am the mom of 6 kids. one of which is gay.
AMEN!

I guess everyone has an opinion and as polgara said what I do in my own home on my own time with my own friends and family does not affect anyone but those immediately involved. Children from same-sex families are not reared with confusion. On the contrary the are filled with love and there is no confusion about that. Homosexuality is not a choice. I like many others have prayed, cried, lived a lie to change who we are an through it all I am just glad that we are here to speak about it. I was not influenced by anyone and I was not a victim of any abuse but since I was just a child I knew something about me was different. I didn't know what gay was so I did not have a label for it. God made me how I am. God put my son in my hands to care for and God stands by me every day. Please leave the judging to him. After all isn't that one of his commandments? If we are wrong so be it. Allow us to face God when the time comes but you have no right to take from us what is ours and we shouldn't continue to fight for it. It already belongs to us. We pay taxes just as everyone else and we hurt no one. Yet sometimes I am afraid of what your children will do to mine just because his parents are gay. Children imitate what they see and just as people have a problem with race their children will pick up on it and this is what I fear most. You are teaching your children to hate. I teach my son to love. I doubt that he is homosexual and us raising him will not change that. Just allow us to love as we please. My love for my partner does not affect you. However your closed mind affects me.

I would say that every person need their privacy and their love one to be able to survive, and if that makes them happy well go for it.

Despite the fact that I know many people in the gay and lesbian community, and despite the fact that I am close friends with some gays and lesbians, I am opposed to same-sex marriage. When asked why, I have to say that homosexual relationships are wrong. There is no rhyme or reason to homosexual relationships, and it is wrong-plain and simple. I feel for your frustration and anger, I truly do. I am a romantic to the center of my being, but I have to draw a line somewhere. Homosexuality is wrong.
not everything in the "straight" world is morally right in my eyes....

It's not that I support gay marriage, I'm just not offended. Everyone should have the right to marry who they love.

So, why are you calling that person brainwashed? Is it just because he/she is voicing their opinion that contradicts yours? There are millions of people who have the same convictions against "gay" marriage backed with a legitimate basis. Who are you to say that any of them are brainwashed? Doesn't that make *you* judgmental??
Homosexuals are all about accusing anyone who opposes their views as being hateful, judgmental, bigoted, etc, etc, etc. So, they cry for discrimination laws to punish anyone, even for religious reasons, that doesn't agree with their vile lifestyle. They force public schools to produce curriculum that teaches small kids that homosexual love is natural and good, when there's no proof of either. They're all about equality...as long as you agree with them.
I've known many homosexuals and not one of them was all about those things. They were just people, just like you and me. Only gay.:)

If a law allows them to marry...so be it. The big issue is the fact that if you're not with them, or agree with their lifestyle then you're forced to do things that go against your convictions. For example, a homeowner (female) rented out a room inside her home. She received an application from two homosexual men that wanted to rent it. She didn't feel comfortable renting it out to them, because their lifestyle went against her belief...her convictions, so she denied their application...she made the unfortunate mistake of telling them why. The two homosexuals decided to sue her for discrimination...they won. In states that allow same-sex marriage, preachers/priests/pastors will be mandated by law to perform marriage ceremonies for homosexuals, even if it goes against their beliefs. Religious private schools are also being challenged. Homosexual students attend *religious* schools knowing full well what their policies/beliefs are concerning homosexuality, yet they feel the need to attempt to force these schools (thru lawsuits) to change...a complete disregard to every other student that is paying/attending.
These types of problems are happening thru-out the Country.
The issue is that it's either their way, or no way. Where's the equality in that? Who says others can't disagree with that lifestyle? Where's the proof that it's a good, or natural lifestyle? Who has the right to say that just because someone gets their belief from the bible, for instance, it's not a good enough reason to be against it?
Btw, after all the countless years of research and study, there is still no proof that homosexuality is natural, or inborn.
Discrimination is wrong. Would it have been different if the landlady in your story refused to rent to a black couple based on their race? Or to the gay couple based on gender? Or anyone based on religion? No one forced her to do anything. No church will be required to perform any ceremony not in keeping with the tenets of its faith. To assume otherwise it ludicrous. That's like saying a Catholic priest has to marry a Muslim couple, just because it's legal for Muslims to get married.

My wife and I have many gay friends, we value those friendships and see nothing "wrong" or "sinful" about those people getting married. And in case you didn't know, a gay man broke the code of the Nazis and thus shortened WW2.
