If religious people do not like or approve of same-sexy couples getting married then they should not find someone and fall in love with someone of the same sex. But what should not happen is for religious people to be allowed to force their believes and opinions on everyone else. Gay people, and supporters of gay people, are not forcing our beliefs on people who oppose us. All we are doing is saying that we should have the same rights and privileges as straight couples.
When a same-sex couple loses a spouse, the partner left should not have to pay an inheritance tax that straight couples don't have to pay. Nor should have have family members of their deceased parter come after their home and money which they built together. That is something that many straight people fail to think about and realize.
Gay people should have the same rights and privileges as straight couples, the end.
During the civil rights movement, had their rights been put to a popular vote they never would have passed. Had we had to have each state decide if they wanted segregation or if black people should be able to vote then black people would still be separate and UNEQUAL in the south.

I voted against gay marriage because I live my life by The Bible. God has told us in Leviticus 18:22 that being gay is a sin. I do not judge those who are gay, that is between them and The Lord but I as a Christian can not stand against God's word.

God does not support it therefore I do not support it. Lets start standing up for God laws and morality.

It's too bad that when it comes to civil rights they cannot separate church and state. The bible used to be used against the progression of black rights and women's rights. Too bad people cannot differentiate between Holy Matrimony in a church and a Civil Marriage by the courthouse. They are not one and the same in the legal sense.

it is a democracy, that is how it works. The majority rules and the minority is suppose to learn to live with that. But no, along come the sniveling liberals, and do everything to protect the crying ones who refuse to live by the decisions, and what do you know, we have a dictatorship in the making.

Actually the majority voting on the CIVIL RIGHTS of MINORITIES is mob rule or TYRANNY OF THE MAJORITY. The constitutional protects minorities from their rights being put up to a popular vote. You do not have the right to vote on everything in this nation. While the U.S. is a democracy in certain aspects it is actually a republic.

According to your logic anyone could vote to deny blacks service at restaurants or women the right to vote. Are the rights and privileges of anyone who isn't a rich, white, heterosexual, conservative Republican Christian/non-atheist (and Southern) male subject to a popular vote on?

Voting to ban others in being able to participate in the things you take for granted is a dictatorship. You are able to marry who you love why would you deny that to someone else? How does it affect your life?

It's funny, if we were talking about guns, the support votes would skyrocket. JUST BECAUSE IT DOESN'T FIT YOUR BELIEFS, DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU CAN OPRESS OTHERS. Republicans and Christians say they want "small government" and all this sh--, but they are so quick to say "the law should define marriage as one man, one woman" and vote to not allow gay marriage. If two dudes and two chicks being together is somehow affecting your marriage, then maybe you should be worrying about your man/woman. If yoy "don't want to expose your children" to homosexuality, keep them in the house and off the Internet.

I don't like heterosexual public displays of affection, but I'm not trying to impose my feelings onto them. People should be free to do whatever they want and the law should protect them (but lets bebhonest, the law only protects certain kinds of people and you know what I mean).

Pops, what do you think about man that is gay, but he lives with a woman so people won't think he is gay? Previously he was in a relationship with a man. Now he wants everyone think he is straight.
