Because GOD Almighty says, "NO" to this lifestyle. Read the "Holy Bible".

Committed, please keep religion out of this. After all, there is separation of church and state.

Let me ask you this....where do you go to get a marriage license?

That's right...the state.

Does a marriage need to be performed in a church?

That's right again...No.

You say to read the bible...but do you condone the stoning of those who commit adultery, or those who get divorced? Why not? Cause it is barbaric as was abolished long ago?

Please read below:

"Do not think that I [Jesus] have come to abolish the Law (the Old Testament) or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law (the Old Testament) until everything is accomplished." (Matthew 5:17-18)

It is quite clear from these verses from the New Testament that Jesus peace be upon him did honor the Old Testament and did say that every single "letter" of it has to be honored, followed and fulfilled.

So before you go sprouting off about the bible again, learn to understand what it says about everything, including all the laws of the Old Testament.

Have a good day.

Gay marriage does not take anything away from other people and will bring more revenue to our area

Committed needs to read the Holy Bible and not regurgitate what her pastor has said that the Bible says. The Bible does not speak out on homosexual marriages, and the infamous story used was not about homosexuality, but about rape and not following God's laws. That's why those cities were destroyed.
Gay marriage would bring a lot of revenue in for this state and the divorce rate for gays is a whole lot lower than for the so-called Christians.
I will say that I am ashamed of being a citizen of a state where a State Senator's wife states that this is a white country, founded by white people, and our Constitution was written by white people. How convenient it was for her to forget that there were already people living here when the "white people" arrived. It also is embarrassing to have a Mayor state that NC doesn't want gay people here. Really, he has the right to speak for the whole state? Personally, I'd much rather have an entire state of gay people, than the bigoted so-called Christian politicians we have in office.
As Ghandi said, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians, they are unlike your Christ."

Gay Marriage is an oxymoron. Marriage is a religious requirement that includes legitimizing children. Since Leviticus is very clear about homosexuality you cannot be religious and gay. Since marriage is religious you can't be gay and married. Since gays go against nature in having children, and against the bible then the thought of gay marriage just doesn't make sense.
I would not object to using the term civil union to extend rights of insurance, probate etc.

Less than 1% of men are gay. But our crazy "politically correct" news organizations along with gay groups are inflating the issue.

And don't call me homophoebic, that is not a politically correct term. I prefer the word "Normal."

I can't support it on any level. It's neither normal nor natural. The proof is that a same-sex union can't produce offspirng...and that, after all...is the primary function of sexual intercourse.

Neither can I condemn any individual or couple for their private choices, as I am neither qualified nor inclined to judge anybody. What is done behind closed doors by consenting adults is none of my business.

But please, don't expect me to celebrate that lifestyle because I do not. I do believe in the right to choose, and will defend that right vehemently and loudly...even physically...even as I disagree.

To go by what you say.. that would mean that you are agaisnt the following to marry because it is neither normal or natural for
Infertile people to marry
A couple where one or both have been "fixed"
And post menopausal women
Since all of them "can't produce offspirng...and that, after all...is the primary function of sexual intercourse."

Care to show me where on a marriage license there is a clause saying that to be married one must produce children?.... anywhere on that document?

This is about equal right pure and simple. Tell me why it is ok for the government to deny the right to enter into a legal and binding contract (marriage license) which provides government benefits both legal and monetary to one group of american citizens, while allowing another group to enter into the same contract and get the benefits.

There's really no point in marrying if the couple isn't planning a family. That is, unless you consider a joint tax return a valid reason. I don't.

Regarding infertility, an opposite sex couple could still be great parents to an adopted child or children. Two men may be great dads, but they can never be a mom. Two women may be great moms, but they can never be a dad. A child deserves a complete household with two parents of the opposite sex.

What does it matter if they are of opposite gender? They love each other and that's all that matters. This is their personal decision and it doesn't concern you in any way.

Personal freedoms means all freedoms, not just what you personally approve of. Right to firearms, to vote, to pray, and to marry whomever.
