No explanation needed. It's a human right.

For every gay couple, that's two more women for you homophobes to fight over. I don't see the problem.

How is this still up for debate? Guys. Really. If you don't agree wth it, then don't talk about it. Don't bash it. Here's an even simpler solution - IF YOU DON'T LIKE GAY MARRIAGE, DON'T GET GAY MARRIED. No one has the right to tell you anybody who they can and can't marry, especially the government. It's a goddamn right.

I don't usually respond to total dumbass comments, but I'm going to make an exception this time.

It isn't a matter of like or dislike. It's a matter of right and wrong, and homosexuality is clearly wrong.

It's not a natural state. Marriage is for 2 people of the opposite sex. It is why God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

Isn't marrage supposed to be a religous experience where two people are joined in holy matrimony? Thus making it something of a spiritual event. I do not agree with the religious joining of two people of the same sex. Simply because it is not with in my religous view points. However, I do believe that the state governments should allow a joining of same sex couples on a legal stand point. Where these persons may be viewed as a family unit according to the state while remaining ouside of many peoples religious opinions.

First ... marriage has nothing to do with religion.
Marriage is a legal contract between two individuals. Once the contract ( marriage license) is signed in front of witnesses you are technically married. Now if you want to have your marriage "blessed by God" then have a cerimony (all it really is) in church. However... Churches do not marry people The state does.

Marriage license + judge + witness = married.
No marriage license + priest + witness = not married.

No one is asking for Churches to do the cerimony. When (not if but when) ssm comes to pass, no church will be forced to change their view on the subject. They can, and probably will, still blast homosexual and ssm, from their pulpit. The difference is that their beliefs will not keep anyone from getting equal rights .

Why not... see Marriage in the terms wanted by the homo. community is strictly legal in nature. Has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the church. So one can very EASILY say that on a theological basis I am against it, however as an american citizen I am against a group of people being denined the same rights as another group...
