So is eating shrimp.

If you are using the bible to justify your hatred, then you have to stand against everything it says is wrong, not just the ones you choose.

Otherwise, you are simply using that book to justify your personal ignorance.

The Bible does NOT state that you CAN do it, it simply shows that it HAS been done. The slavery also wasn't what modern slavery was like as far as the African slaves in America. The slavery in the Bible is more like a form of being an indentured servant. Such an arrangement would allow a poor man to survive. While not ideal, in an era before government welfare programs, slavery would be preferable to death, especially when some forms were more equivalent to modern-day employment than what we think of as slavery.
Exodus 21:7 Says it is acceptable to sell your daughter into slavery. It provides procedures when a man does. That most definitely says that you CAN do it.

Slavery then was even worse than the most modern form of slavery.

Most slaves originated from the spoils of war, kidnap or voluntarily to pay for debts. The treatment of slaves varied in the ancient world, but in most cases slaves were the property of the master, with little or no rights or status. This meant that many were treated harshly, although most ancient societies had some laws to regulate slavery, such as the Babylonian Code of
Hammurabi.

Slaves are slaves. The bible condones slavery, and says that we as americans would be justified in taking slaves from canada or mexico.

marriage is and almost always has been about religion, and or procreation.
And - marriage has also been about:
1. Love
2. Power
3. Wealth
4. Status
5. Forming Alliances between nations
6. Control
7. Ownership
8. Compliance
9. Deception
10. Security

Its either done by 2 adults who wish to marry before god or it was done so that a child could be proven legitimate.
Or it was done because two unrelated consenting adults were in LOVE with each other.
Potbellypig wrote:
Obviously, gays and lesbians can't have children, and therefore have no need to become married.
Gays and Lesbians have children ALL of the time!
Potbellypig wrote:
(well there are other benefits now that the government regulates marriages, but that shouldn't be the case. its a religious function, not a state function.)
But it is a STATE function. ALL must obtain a license by the STATE to be legally married.
Potbellypig wrote:
But gays and lesbians wanting to be equal is a fairly new thing... in the past even the people who participated in gay or lesbian activities new what they were doing was wrong.
Gays and Lesbians have WANTED TO BE EQUAL since the beginning of time. The only thing that is NEW is BEING PROUD OF WHO WE ARE!
Potbellypig wrote:
That is, until someone decided to say "Hey, why don't we try to tell EVERYONE else that they are wrong for not excepting us." And then the media and other gays decided to start poisoning the minds of children who grow up having tv shows tell them that it is ok for them to sin against nature.
I never knew that teaching compassion, inclusion, honesty and acceptance was "Poisoning" the minds of anyone!
Potbellypig wrote:
Christianity does support equality, but it doesn't support homosexuality, and therefore I doubt that homosexuality is included in the christian "equality"
Sure Christianity supports homosexuality. There are over 5,000 Christian churches in the US that not only embrace gays and lesbians, but have offered to officiate over their marriages.

Five Thousand Christian churches - that sure sounds like acceptance to me!

Don't presume to know what God intended, you only embarrass yourself!
BralyFamily wrote:

The bible gives CLEAR RULES on the "how to" of selling your daughter into slavery.

What? Are you for real? Slaves in biblical times were treated like dogs from Somalia!

Pulease - you can't be for real? Slaves were starved, maimed, humiliated, bought and sold and worked to the bone. You've got to be kidding!!!

Marriage is also between two men, or between two women, and if you have a problem with marriage between same-sex couples, then just be sure never to marry anyone of the same sex.

separate is not equal as found in Brown v. Board of Education, 344 U.S. 1 (1952), 344 U.S. 141 (1952), 347 U.S. 483 (1954), 349 U.S. 294 (1955), segregated schools in the several states are unconstitutional in violation of the 14th Amendment. Found that "The "separate but equal" doctrine adopted in Plessy v. Ferguson, 163 U.S. 537 , has no place in the field of public education."

Everyone has equal right. Love is love. And who is to tell someone that they aren't allowed to love. Anyone who doesn't support gay marriage is a fool. It's just marriage and it doesn't interfere with you're life, just there's. Get over it.

Bush was president 8 years and he did nothing ,plus cheney own daughter was a pussy licker gay,and both men said they wont support her if bush is for gays so am I..

Republican Romney income to you.

http://www.slate.com/articles/business/moneyb...

Mitt Romney released his 2010 tax return on Monday. His total income for the year was listed as $21.6 million, more than one-half of which came from capital gains. How does that stack up against your income? Enter your annual income below to find out how long it would have taken Mitt Romney to earn the same amount of money.(Don’t worry, we’re not collecting any data you type in.)

How long would it take Mitt Romney to earn what you make in a year?

Enter an income:

In 2010, Mitt Romney made $15000 in 6 hours 3 minutes and 57 seconds.

It would take you 1444 years 1 months 2 days 6 hours 53 minutes and 45 seconds to make what Mitt made in 2010.

Write a tweet about what #mittmakes: Use your 2010 income for an apples-to-apples comparison. This calculator does not adjust for inflation, and, due to the nature of Romney’s income, his 2011 income will likely be very different

I am voting for Obama in 2012,so should you a decent man, family nam and not a liar as republicans are..

Give to Obama election fund

Shut up. This is stupid. I'm a lesbian with three healthy happy teenage boys. My partner and I are nurses. We save lives and treat everyone w respect. No pt gets treated differently then another based on their lifestyle. We want to be treated equally in the eyes of the law. Lesbian or not. I know where I stand w god. You or any other judgmental bible thumpers don't dictate to me where I'm going after I die. If I have a great relationship w god in this life I'm sure I'm ok in the next. I believe god wants us to wake ea day filled w love and goodness. And that's what I do everyday. Our children are thankful we've found ea other. Bc until then they didn't know what being happy, not being scared in their homes etc felt like. My children family and friends are grateful we found the love we share. Shame on you.
