Nobody said gays can't get married. They just can't marry someone of the same sex.

If you have a problem with drinking alcohol, don't drink alcohol. If you don't find blondes attractive, don't date blondes. If you're opposed to gay marriage, don't marry a gay.
It's long past time to treat homosexuals as equals, because they're just people like you and me. We're all humans. So why deny someone what they feel will make them happy if it has no negative impact on you?
To do so is selfish.
"Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these."
Except the following passages...

Leviticus 18:22, and 20:13
1 Kings 14:24
Romans 1:24-27
1Timothy 1:8-11
1Corinthians 6:9

If your gonna quote Scripture make sure you UNDERSTAND the context of IT ALL. Don't just quote the words and not understand the entire meaning.

Homosexual individuals' sexual orientation shouldn't have anything to do with the individual's right to marriage. You should be able to marry whomever you love. They can't help it.
If you don't like it, simply turn the other cheek. I don't understand why there's such a huff over it. There shouldn't be. It's simply marriage, their rights are just as valid as any others. This shouldn't even be an altercation in society. But, oh well. I guess that can't be helped either.
They can't help it? BS. They CHOOSE to be that way just like a person chooses to rob a bank. Marriage is a privilege not a right. Married people get certain benefits like filing joint tax returns and exemptions. My kids are grown and out of the house so should I demand the EIC deduction? Or should I be able to file head of the household with 4 deductions because I have 4 dogs I have to feed and take to the vet? Do you see how ridiculous this whole thing is? And nobody is saying gays can’t marry, they just can’t marry someone of the same sex. Why does every group no matter what their agenda, think they are entitled to “special” rights and laws? Give me a f’king break.

Don't be an idiot! You know what is meant when the subject of gay marriage is discussed: same sex marriage! So, it's not always spelled out but for folks like you, perhaps, it should be.

Mentality like yours shows only small-mindedness. No one has the right to judge others or to tell others how to live, whom to love, etc. A straight can marry, s/he is an American with that right - Well, LGBT folks are also Americans, who should have the same right. It wrong to "group" people and decide what each group can and cannot do. Let's look for commonalities like being Americans - and, Americans who don't judge!

LOL I'm the idiot? I bet an idiot would even agree with the concept of marriage is 1 man + 1 woman.

It's Gadsden, so lots of ignorance is expected. However, it's 2014 and same sex marriage is inevitable. Marriage, like it or not, is a civil contract...not a religious one. You can have a ceremony in a church...but it isn't legal until you are granted a civil marriage license. Hence, same sex marriage is a legal right - not a religious privilege. That being said, it's apparent that if the church (of any faith) wants to remain relevant, they will need to be more accepting or fade away, as they choose. All the massive legislation being thrown around currently is unconstitutional and will be nullified - it is the last gasps of a dying, hate-fueled breed too unaccepting to change. This is as it should be.

I don't understand why people care so much about what people do behind closed doors. Sure "God" intended marriage to be between a man and woman, but why should people who do not believe in God be punished for YOUR beliefs? Would you want laws made that restrict things you can do because of a Muslim belief? Stop using the bible as an excuse to hate something. Man shall not lie with man is written, but so it is written that eating pork is a sin, sleeping in the same bed as your wife while she is on her period, women speaking in church, women having a job, children under the age of 6 months are not allowed to attend church. So why not follow those "rules" as well? Why pick and choose what to believe?

If you believe it is a choice then you're an idiot. Do you choose to be attracted to a woman or were you born that way? At want time in your life did you sit down and say "I have a choice to be attracted to men or women. I choose women"?
