The laws in this country are built upon a certain worldview, and it is the Judeo-Christian worldview. And that worldview has been expressed in our laws on marriage for 200-plus years. Up until 25 years ago, we would never have sat here and talked about this. It would have been beyond the thinkable. And so it is clearly a dramatic departure from the Judeo-Christian ethic that is reflected in our laws that say marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman.

Than we have Gay rights groups that are stating they want "Gay" men to be able to donate "Blood",this in it's self is a curse to all,as they are more susceptible to HIV,how nice of them, then we can infect all that need blood transfusions.

Gay's raising children, two women raising a male child?? A male is needed to show this child how to Be male, and the same situation when it involves two men raising a female, this is despicable.

Fred, I'm straight and I wish there were no Gays in this world. I do believe they are born that way so there is nothing that can be done to change that. I feel queezy being in their presence, don't watch TV programs if there is a hint of homosexuality, have walked out of restaurants when a gay waitor tried to serve me, have been approached by Gays and had to ward them off--sometimes even forcefully. But, like millions of illegals, they are a fact of life that is not going to go away. I just try to keep my distance from them so that I am not irritated. I do feel though that they have the same rights that I do or should have.

OK FastFred, sorry I was having a little fun, not really debating.
So seriously, why do you care so much? 5 states and DC have been marrying same-sex couples for years now. How has that changed your life?

Kids have to learn that there are lots of things in life that are different then how they are raised and different than who they are. All of us have gone through this baptism by fire. That's part of life. For those who believe in the after-life, let me remind them that Earth is not Heaven.

I care so much because it's not good for society no matter how you look at it.They claim they wouldn't push their agenda, but now that has not turned out to be true,it is mandatory in some cities in California to teach the gay agenda. As I stated before,I believe it is simply a break down of Family Values and moral values.

"As I stated before,I believe it is simply a break down of Family Values and moral values"

Homosexual Family Values are different than what is considered to be Family Values by the majority of people who are not homosexual. But for them, if they have feelings for their partner or lust after someone of their own sex, then that is their norm. Their moral values are different in that they consider it just as moral to associate with their own sex as we consider it moral to associate with the opposite sex. The word 'moral' is a religeous based term and as usual, with religeous vernacular, is subject to various interpretations. I know that some Christians--perhaps in the South, consider it moral to marry their 1st cousin. Many other Christians--perhaps in the North, consider it to be immoral. Both Christians with different ideas of what is moral. That is why it is best to leave the word 'moral' out of any serious discussion.

Everyone has the right to love whomever they wish. In the end, it is about the soul and not the outward apperance. We are ALL human on the inside.

There is no 'soul' buddy. That is just a figment of religeous people's imagination to give them comfort that they will be going somewhere else after death other than the grave.

There is no limit on love and it is not anyones business as to who people choose to be there life partner. Its a personal choice and marriage rights are for all no a select few

<quoted text>Well here's one, like the two girls who were shot to death by their father in Texas recently,(Islam)he called it honor killings, because the two girls were becoming to "American"not that they had done anything, but just becoming to American, this goes on all the time, right here in America.Than there was recently a women going to be stoned to death for adultery, until people around the world got wind of it and the verdict was changed as far as I know.So here is just one example.
Question----when did you all decide to be Christians ?.......if you answer... I was born that way....I got my answer

So you think Christian values should not be adopted by government? Well in that case lets go ahead and legalize robbery, rape, and murder since the Christian faith teaches that they are wrong. Get over it man.<quoted text>
No. That's called a "theocracy" - a religious state. We don't have that here. They have countries with governments like that, like the taliban and isis folks want to have. Maybe you could move in next door to them and start your own theocracy.

Here, we have a "democracy." Our country has NO official religion: christian, hebrew, cargo cult or otherwise (the founding fathers deliberately left that OUT knowing that it'd start sh*t). In fact, the US was founded on the principles of freedom of religion - you can follow whatever religion you like here! Isn't that COOL?

We have this deal called "separation of church and state." Believe what you wish privately, but our civil laws are not based on a particular religion (although they do bear some resemblance to the Code of Hammurabi from 1754 BC). While there are no laws prohibiting dancing, eating meat on Fridays or going to church on certain days of the week (Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday...) or wearing special underwear, here in the US you are FREE to not dance, not eat meat on Fridays, wear any kind of underwear you please (or not at all!) and you can go to church anytime yours is open! AND if your religion has church on certain days and not on others, well, that's okie dokie, too! Prohibiting eating creatures with cloven hooves not only leaves out pork, it leaves out deer and goats, too! The christian bible also directed us not to eat shrimp, crawfish, oysters and scallops - only fish with scales. I'm passing on that one. If I go to hell for eating shellfish, oh well... how good could the heavenly cuisine be without the full array of seafood (wrapped in bacon)? And I LIKE cheese on my kosher hot dogs, okay?

The beauty of our system of government is that we don't force ANY particular set of religious views on ANYONE, even atheists (although they do get a little testy around christmas...).

Perhaps instead of telling others to "get over it," you should embrace the principles of this country. Just a suggestion...

Every gay was born from the union of one man and one woman; there's something special for sex integrated couples that sex segregated couples will never know or experience. Keeping marriage one man and one woman means perfect affirmative action, diversity and sex integration where we know segregation is for losers.
