So do I.

I support equal rights.

It is a waste of time in this area though where most gays are afraid to come out of the local closet because of all the hostile bigots who will boycott their business or cause them problems given the opportunity even if it is a whisper campaign.

It's the right thing to do to allow equal legal rights.

It's just wrong and backwards, bad for families and marriages everywhere.

It's something that ruins any country because it is a sin and abomination in the eyes of God. Queers shouldn't be allowed to rearrange the normal and yuck up the pure sanctity of marriage. Children need mothers AND fathers. Too many reasons to list in opposition...

There you go name calling. Would Jesus do that?

Discrimination is wrong whether it's based on color, race, gender or sexual orientation. LGBT people didn't choose to be different. Most importantly, if your reasoning against gay marriage has anything to do with a religious text, your argument is not valid. You're not living in a theocracy.

I think people should be able to marry the person they love regardless of gender.

You got that right. If marriage isn't a right for gays then it isn't a right for straights either. If straights get a right gays don't then straights are the ones getting special rights. Straights already get special rights and privileges including lower taxes as married couples which gay couples have no access to whatsoever.

All Americans have exactly the same rights. Marriage is not a right.

Then if marriage is not a right then why are straight people given that right and not gay people? A judge cannot legally nullify a marriage unless the straight couple consent to do it. If it's not a right then why can't a judge tell some man who cheats who thinks he's a loser and is not worthy of staying married to the lovely young women and then declares the marriage null and void. If marriage isn't a right then that's exactly what a judge can do. Just like driving is a privilege and not a right and your driver's license can be taken away. I guess you are saying marriage is a heterosexual privilege and not a right and that they are given that a special privilege just because society is honoring that that man likes the hole instead of another pole. How shallow and ignorant!

Correct. Marriage is a privilege just like a driver's license. In order to obtain a driver's license one must fulfill the legal criteria in the relevant jurisdiction. For example, if you're blind you're not going to get a license. If you're 5 years old you're not going to get a license.

Exactly the same reasoning applies to obtaining a marriage license.

So gays people are consider LESS THAN like blacks used to be considered when there was white supremacy? How pathetic this country is! Talk about have heterosexuality and religion shoved down our throats!

Canada has same-sex marriage and they do just fine and I consider them superior to the United States socially. Why should gay married couples have to pay higher taxes than straight married couples? Gays are tax payers too. I think they should at least be accommodated with all the state and federal rights of marriage. To not do so just extremely cruel and insensitive.

I was making a political point. We both brought up driver's license and that had nothing directly to do with gays either. I guess I brought blacks into the equations for examples the same way we did driver's privileges. Please don't patronize me.
