Gay couples should have the same rights as heterosexual couples - that is, to get married in order to: profess their love and commitment to each other in a legal/religious ceremony in the presence of family and friends, and to benefit from whatever tax laws, medical rights and so on pertain to married couples. Our society seems to think of all kinds of ways to make minority people's lives difficult, frustrating, and unhappy. Life is difficult enough. Let's take whatever steps we can to uplift each other, be fairer, and to make our brothers' and sisters' lives happier and more satisfying. The price we pay to do that is zero, and the benefits - to so many - are so great.

I have a good good friend who was in the gay life style for years. He has said it only brought him sorrow and tears. He is now out of the lifestyle and lives as a hetersextual and is very happy. Common since tells us that certain behaviors are not healthy. The gay life style is one. Everyone has the right to live the way they want, except when we try to impose that behavior on society and say it ok. It is not. Marriage is between a man & a women. Nature & God's law teaches this. I believe that God is a lot smarter than we are. He still loves every gay person but does not approve of their sin.

Marriage is marriage. Wanna be a gay, go live together, but don't call it marriage.

Or come out with a new word for it, instead of dirtying up the meaning of a man and woman being as one!

If somebody thinks its ok, why do they hide it?
If it is right, why is there so much debate?
Thats because it's not right morally, and deep down, i know everybody thinks its not right. If they didn't they wouldn't hide it.
Also, don't dirty up the word "Marriage" (Man and Wife as One). Use a different word!
gay marriage is nasty!

Keep your morality to yourself. It cause enough problems in the world.

Marriage is a union between people who love each other. That is the bottom line. I may be straight, but I don't want anyone telling me who I can and cannot fall in love with. Remember, the opposition are using the same aguments now that others used 50 years ago to oppose interracial marriage.

Hetersexuals are doing a really bad job at marriage, most can't keep it together.

Love is love. By not allowing Gay couples to marry, they are being denied over 1000 rights that hetero couples take for granted every day. Gay people pay the same amount of taxes and should be given equal rights.

That is very true. Interracial marriage in many states was against the law not that many years back! I believe - and hope - that one day, in the not too far future, gay marriage will be commonplace just as interracial marriage is today. By the way, I am a straight person, and I have been married, but I do not believe that by some act of fate (being straight instead of gay) that I should have a corner on marriage and the rights that married people have.
