I am a gay man married to my husband. We have been together for 6 years and married for 2 of them. I do not see how some people can say that we (as 2 consenting adults and are not related) should not have this right.

Because, duh. I don't even understand how so many people could oppose this. The constitutional right to equality should dictate the legality of gay marriage, not the vote of straight, and mostly homophobic, people. This 'issue' was once presented to me wonderfully, compared to "The Separate but Equal Act" because... well that's what it is. Gay people are supposed to have the same rights, and as humans are "equal" but they've been separated in that they can't marry, and benefit from the union of love, and be recognized as such, as straight people do. Luckily I live in Iowa, where it happens to be legal. One of the few reasons I'm proud of this state.

It goes without saying that two adults who want to be together should be able to express themselves and be recognized for it in the eyes of the law.

You're not really married. Two men do not make a marriage, nor do two women.

You may have a piece of paper that entitles you to file a joint tax return in your State. But its only a piece of paper, worth about 1/10 of a cent.

Only an opposite sex couple can be truly married. Only an opposite sex couple can physically unite in the fullness of their love and thus cause the miracle of new life to spring forth. Only they can look at their flesh and blood offspring and see perhaps the father's brow, the mother's eyes, grandfather's strong chin, great grandmothers graceful frame, and know that this child is the product of not only they but all the generations that came before them.

That is a Marriage.

It goes without saying that it makes no sense for two people of the same sex to marry.

Wow u really are misinformed.....
A) thanks to DOMA cant do joint federal if you are a ssc.
B)"Only an opposite sex couple can physically unite in the fullness of their love and thus cause the miracle of new life to spring forth."
Now since procreation never has and never will be a prereq for marriage you argument is a big null and void here.
c) going by your statement... anyone who is incapable of producing children be it infertile or post menapausal... is not "truely married" as they can not cause miracle of life"
d)with stem cells it now possible for a lesbian couple to mak a child w o a man. so the will see the likeness oft he child to them....

so you are off on all counts it seems

Call it "union" or something else. Marriage is between man and women only!

That would be great if
all rights were giving to both regardless of what you called it.
Unfortunately for the time being marriage is a legal definition not dealing with the church but with legal contract issues.
