I dont see why marriage is a religious event anyways. If it is religous then marraige should be the churches decision. Why should anyone else get a say so? Seriously though, why cant homosexuals get married with non religous vows by a justice of the peace if religion is the only problem.

No, Marriage is something that was founded based on religion. It is a covenant between a man and a woman before god. I believe that homosexuals shouldn't force us to change our views. If they want marriage, stop being gay. It's that simple. A man and women only can make life. You have to have both, why aren't they suing the government because 2 women or 2 men can't make a baby? They can't do so with out the other sex. They are forcing others to comprimise. There are limitations to every lifestyle. Should Pedophiles be allowed to marry 10 year old girls? What is the difference. Should we change the laws so that it isn't illegal to have sex and then marry children?
I mean no harm nor condem homosexuals, I ask they they be the same. Don't bastardize something that I hold sacred.
I'm sorry. But you're not very smart. One can't "stop being gay." It's an innate part of their being. And it isn't even comparable to pedophilia in the slightest. There is no victim in a homosexual relationship. It is completely consensual.

Also, marriage was NOT created solely for religious purposes. First off, it served many different purposes depending on what society you are talking about. And usually that purpose was to have economic and social protections. Secondly, the catholic church (from which all other branches of Christianity came) did not name "Holy Matrimony" a sacrament until the 12th century. Until then, marriage in Christianity was simply the trading of women around for social and economic purposes (such as to bind families together)...

Today, the government recognizes marriage in America. It is ignorant and SELFISH to say that you believe that some couples shouldn't be treated equally under the law just because they are of the same sex. We are ALL human beings regardless of what sex we are.

I see nothing wrong with gay marriage, you can't help who you love. Everyone deserves to be happy.

it isn't even bad for your health? GAY SEX IS THE #1 WAY HIV IS TRANSMITTED. Look it up on the CDC website, it's actually VERY UNHEALTHY.
Wow, I don't have time at the moment to respond to your very biased statements. You can't see clearly because of your wants, not because of whats right.
If gay sex transmit diseases....then stop having it Dan!

This is a subject that has caught my attention as of late. I have always had my own opinion in the matter but have chose to keep it to myself until now. I do not dislike gays simply because they are gay, I do not dislike anyone for any reason other than the person that they are. I don't think being gay is a choice; I have never seen anything on a man that made me want him. What two consenting adults do in privacy is none of my business; don't judge others because their sins are different from yours; you don't cram Christianity down someone's throat, you show it to them by living the life. I do believe in the bible and I do believe the bible places homosexuality in the sin category just like multiple sexual partners, stealing, etc.(refer back to the sin differently part before you get upset)
I for one really don't understand why the government is involved in marriages be begin with. As I understand the it the government can not make decisions based on sexual orientation, so the government should treat gay marriages the same as heterosexual marriages. That being said I find it difficult to swallow when some gays attempt to force churches and other individuals to go against their personal beliefs and participate in these matters by suing them. Just because a photographer, baker, or any other person does not believe in gay unions and says they won't do it (politely) then that should be good enough to go find someone else.
For most on either side of this matter I don't see it as a major issue, but you always have radicals banging their drums. I do understand some of the arguments both for and against. I have gay friends that at any mention of disagreement they throw a fit and are not longer friends; I have friends that at any sign of agreement with gay rights do the same thing. I guess I pissed both of these groups off, because I agree that the government should not discriminate against them, but I also think that it is a sin and participation in these matters should not be forced upon other people or businesses that politely refuse.

Government is already involved in marriage; now the issue is the government license of sex segregated marriage. Fortunately, our Constitution protects the sex integration of marriage because segregation is based on discrimination, inequality and prejudice.

June 26, 2015 this is a day in which nasty sinners took control of more rights than we have they took away the right of the people in each state to determine how they should recognize marriage not all people are the same and not all states are the same the Supreme Court has been used as a tool by the liberals to push their views on people that don't want them. I encourage all Mississippians to stand up in defense of the ban on gay marriage
