I think it's so sad that some people don't view gays in the same light as the rest of us. They are exactly like us except they prefer to have a relationship with the same sex. All gay people want is to be able to be married and be treated with the same dignity as the rest of us non gays. Gay people are not child molesters. While some child molesters may have gay tendances, so have some serial killers, but not all gay people are perverts. Most of them, like us, may hold hands in public or kiss in public but their sex life is behind closed doors. My neigbors who are straight may be doing a lot of things in their bedroom that is shocking, maybe just as shocking to many of you as what gays do, but I don't know and I'm not going to think about it because I don't care. I guess some people can't stand the thought of knowing that if they see two gay men out in public they get a mental picture in their head. I'm going to tell all of you anti gay people that you are sick and horrible people if the only reason you dislike them is because of religious reasons or just some personal isecurity you have with homosexual sex. How pathetic and closed mined and just plain evil you are for that. I support gay rights. My husband and I are looking for property in the Sanibel/Ft Myers area and we do vote for gay rights. If you are religous you should think about what Jesus would have done. He sure wouldn't have been mean to a homosexual. He would have loved and accepted them.
In this post you seemed to have focused on gay sex. Why? Nobody has mentioned sex and I have never met anyone in my life that has stated when they see gay people in public they think about them having sex. What kind of a mind is that? I canít even comprehend. Sure you and youíre husband move here and vote for all the gay rights you want. No problems.

<quoted text>YES! There is scientific evidence that gays are born gay. I learned that in psychology 101. I have a friend that I went to school with from K-12. I had attended many sleep overs with this girl and never once did she ever act like she liked women or girls. She was an all star softball player and a straight A sudent. After she graduated she came out. She told me personally that she knew she was gay her whole life. There's no way she made the choice to be gay. When we were crushing on little boys in first grade she was crushing on girls but never said anything because it wasn't the "norm". Ask any truly gay person and they will usually all have the same story. She also mentioned she wasn't abused as a child either because sometimes people who are sexually abused end up gay. I used to work for a home for girls who had been severely abused in every way possible. They were so mentally bruised they couldn't even function in a typical foster home. Many of those girls were bisexual or gay because they had been severely abused, many of them were abused by their fathers, brothers, uncles, mothers etc. So it's not always genetic, sometimes being gay is due to some sort of sexual trauma. Of course those cases aren't cases of your typical homosexuality but it can happen that way as well.
First of all psychology is NOT a recognized science in the medical industry. Their findings are symptoms they pool together and make agreements on. Donít argue with me about psychology, youíre not going to win. Iíve never met anyone that didnít take psych 101 and thatís why they didnít continue. All it took was psych 101 for even the least educated to understand its BS. Now what accredited medical journals have you read that state the phenomenon of gay is in fact a genetic structure? Letís face it, if these people were born gay, then it IS in fact a birth defect and needs to be researched further to understand how to isolate and irradiate the cause. Now Iím talking from a completely scientific view here and not this made homophobic crap the gays spew. Either they have chosen this lifestyle (which you yourself admit you know people have done due to adolescent abuse) or they were born this way which you also claim is true as do ALL gays. See they need to cover their bases on the issue and itís taken them 30 plus years to perfect their story to get their day in court. People are blind to this miracle though. Well thatís why they call it wagging the dog. Just wait till everyone sees how much itís going to cost to change hundreds of laws and policy to bring this whole gay marriage thing to fruition. Wow, this is gonna be great!

I don't support it because so many gay people handle the situation inappropriately meaning that they ruin other gay people's relationships because they flaunt it and act so girly and dress so weird. If they'd just lay low and not flaunt it so much then people probably wouldn't care and I don't want my kids seeing that. Florida

Mariage is a states right. Everytime it has been put to a vote, the people have said no. Marriage is between a man and a women, there is no "right" to be married.

Women? Only in Utah dude. Just kidding! I don't even know if that's true anymore. I attended psychology 109.(Is there one of those?) I learned that the only reason people take psychology 101 to begin with is to try to figure out what the f**k is wrong with their own lives. Personally, I loves me all kinds and don't give a rats a$$ what they do. I do, however think this is not a PERTINENT issue right now. OMG do we have so much more sh!t to deal with right now in this country.

I can't believe how closed minded some people are. Take a second and think about the person you love most in this world. Whether that be a man or a woman. What if someone were to tell you that you that your love for this person isn't good enough to be recognized by your country. That you could not take their name,or them take yours. That your god, that you worship and respect, would not recognize the love you feel for this person. The thing that you are most grateful for in this world means nothing to them. Horrible isn't it. The fact is there are many gay couples out there that deserve this respect more then some strait couples do. They've been together for years, have been faithful, loving, and built a life together. What is so wrong about recognizing their love for one another. Love is wonderful, and is the best gift in this world. Love is all the same. Gay,Strait,Bi, whatever. And twisting somebody's words around saying that being OK with gay marriage is the same as child molestation and bestiality is immature and manipulative. You know very well that they are not related whatsoever, and that fact that your mind would connect the two is appalling. Please everyone look at the big picture.<3 Love is all you need. <3

Allison I donít know where you get this belief that ones love for another isnít good enough to recognized by our country. I donít know about any god so thatís not a valid argument at all, I constantly hear the gay community screaming religion and god, but not everyone that doesnít agree gay marriage believs in god. You state in your words that there are gay couples out there that deserve this respect MORE than some straight couples. You stated that right here in this post yet you have the audacity to cry how unfair life is to you. WowÖ The problem Allison isnít the issue of marriage so much as the enormous amount of money it will cost everyone to change literally hundreds of laws. Mountains of policy and constant wanting more after the initial fight. Tell me Allison is gay a choice or is it a birth defect? Neither answer warrants a wedding ring.

I realize this isn't the issue of marriage, more of money and laws .I do agree, which I did not include in my previous post, that this is not necessarily an issue that should be number 1 on the "to-do" list. However, I don't understand why the original laws were written in the first place. The way I see it if you are two people who love each other and want to celebrate your relationship with a ceremony of matrimony it should be aloud. You should be able to have the spousal rights to another, if you want them. I am not defending myself. I am a strait atheist woman. I used the religion reference because that is the card almost everyone plays when gay marriage is brought up. Adam and Eve. The bible says marriage should be between a man and a woman. lalalalalalala. Which it does. Yet, some people pick and choose want they want to believe regardless what their "good book" says. Which is why I am what I am. Not allowing someone to legally marry the person they love in the country they live in is how I got the belief that the love you have for you spouse is not "good enough" for your country. I don't know why that is so hard for you to understand. We don't agree, and that's fine. I just said my peace. I didn't single you out in anyway. So don't single me out because I am on the opposite side of the fence. I was simply trying to have other posters put themselves in the shoes of the "gays" or the people that are not aloud to legally announce their love for one another through matrimony.
Also when I said " some gays have more of a right to marry then some straight" it can also go they other way around. Depending on the circumstances of the relationship. I shouldn't have to explain that, but since you decided to pick and choose petty details of my previous post and run with them in the complete wrong direction to try to get a valid argument...so be it. I have no idea if being attracted to the same sex or to the opposite sex is a choice or a "birth defect" Which, by the way, is also a really rude way to say someone has a gene that causes them to be gay. All I know is that I am a woman and muscles, facial hair, deep voices, and dicks turn me on.

If you have any Gay friends that would support such BS then that is just crazy. We are tax paying people that are tired of spending our dollars to listen the the opposition make such ridiculous statements. There are alot of people that take for granted that we are US citzens and that we do not live in a third world country. The government will always think of ways to spend your money ...do not blame us! We want to be with our partners in hospitals and on their death beds. We want rights to have our children returned to us. I was a closet "lesbian" mom who was severly beaten by her husband....He could get custody and I could not....thats just barbaric. The rights are humane and not costing you a penny more than what is costing me. who pays for all the state court cases when the divorce rates amongst us are 50% with straight people.
its life .WE will all pay one way or another..we will always be here and we deserve humane treatment. How would you like it in the event your wife was in the hospital and the family denied you of seeing her before she died? What about not being able to attend her funeral.....

Gay or straight, all relationships have problems and are at risk for failure. No one gender is more successful than the other. I think it sucks that some families are so nasty that they exclude people from funerals and hospitals. That happens in straight relationships too, when people have been together forever and have chosen not to marry.

If gay is not a choice it is a birth defect. Either way it does NOT warrant marriage.

Equality would be nice and the same benefits that a heterosexual couple have should be fitting especially, since 22 States allow First Cousins to marry.. I know of a few great Lesbian mothers out here. I find the cheating game is on both sides of the fence anyways.. Just when you think High School is over think again.. lol. Adults with childish games.. I see many of heterosexual and gays kissing in the aisles holding hands.. happy.. at the stores. What makes it different?? As long as the sex isn't public its behind closed doors and out of site.. I even know of some that were married and still had normal kids. Religion shouldn't be a topic amongst the decisions either. Yahoo just announced two happily dads as parents! Two ladies and a child happens.. why not? I am cool with it. Lots of other issues to win also. Not just Equality but new pressing issues also in the Nation needs fighting also. I am an open minded soul. And I don't like the religious democracy since I feel one sin is already in the makings.. Its not hurting anyone. Most Gays work next to you and some are so scared to come out and say it.. What more can the gays want? If it comes with Social Security benefits for a loved one..If they can claim the taxes together instead of separate.. Look before we leap.. Many say gays are pedophiles but there are also straight people that are as well. Here is a funny how many of you ladies have a bi sexual partner and don't even know. Hey it happens.. Men same how many wives are bi and you don't know about it? Is it still cheating? ya!!

Are you gay by choice or gay because you were born that way? You see absolutely nobody at all has ever been legitimately able to answer that question. I say its choice. Therefore NO gays should NOT be allowed to marry. Itís a choice of an alternative lifestyle and it is many ways detrimental to our existing society. I guess only men can be violent.
