No the Bible makes it clear and besides we have enough disfunctional peoples in the world due to drugs, alchol and stuff. We don't need to add aids on top of it!

I took a caregiver postion for a gay elderly man.I had never been around gay people and was amazed how compasionate people they were.I took my grandaughter and wife to met the guys and they treated them with respect, and also myself.I met several of the guys friends all were very nice,They fell in love with my grandaughter and she to them,I think they would be great role models as parents, and dont see why everyone is makeing a big deal over this issue,If they choose to marry the goverment need to mind thier own business and let these people be happy.

The Bible states that a marriage is between a man and a woman. NOT Adam and Steve. People think that they need to be accepted no matter what. I believe in respect of others, but I can not support what I know what the truth is. I know there are many wonderful Gay people our in our world and believe everyone can learn from their kindness. I have to leave the rest up to God to judge them. Today and everyday... everyone just needs to pratice kindness and respect and not worry about the others culture trait. There are fine lines to draw in the sand when we are asked to support things, but we have to think of the morals and the kids. The kids have no clue what it right or wrong.

Being gay is NOT a normal way of life we need to teach our kids that. We do However have to accept them since we are being forced to do so. (or we are called names) They have to admit it is hard to accept. When I was growing up we didn't have to accept such things as that. I will be cordial to them, but I do not have to invite them into my home. Just because they are nice has nothing to do with being gay. It's still wrong. Just because we disagree with something doesn't mean we are prejudice or bigots, etc. That word is too easily thrown around anytime someone doesn't like being forced into accepting that.

If there is truly separation between church and state, this wouldn't be an issue.

A reply to homophobe John from Bloomington. I guess you determine what is right and what is wrong in our society. It was not so long ago that blacks were told the same thing by predominate heterosexual christian men. It's amazing it's 2011 and we are still debating the gay issue. John, I suggest you get professional help and I only hope your children haven't been infected with your prejudice and bigotry.

doesn't the Bible also tolerate incest and polygamy? Answer: yes. This country was not established to be a Christian-only country, sorry to say.

This isn't church, it is society. Whatever the law is, you can choose to live whatever higher law you like.

Gay marriage is not about whether or not homosexuality is spiritually corrupt. It is about whether gays can have their relationship legally recognized... Whether or not that is called "marriage."

Do you think God smiles on a wifebeater married to an abusive wife, and frowns on two gays who are genuinely selflessly looking out for the other's well-being above their own?

Marriage is between a man and a woman as stated in the Bible. Nobody should have to agree that gay marriage is o.k.. b/c it is a sin. Times have changed and too much is looked upon as being o.k..Bottom line, the gays need to stay in the closet and not let us "normal people" deal with with their sinful ways. This world has gone crazy! We all need to get back to the basics.

Gay people aren't dysfunctional Beverly T. and furthermore the bible states a lot of things. We shouldn't all stone people for working on the sabbath should we?

As a gay man myself, of course I do. And to those opposed: how could my marriage ever affect you? Just because I'm marrying someone I love doesn't mean I'm taking that ability away from you.

Gay marriage? No, I support equal rights marriage for all people in an all-inclusive country. Dear my mother's fellow Bible-thumpers: you wouldn't have your Christianity if it weren't for freedom of religion. Please stop pushing your false tenets in everyone.

People need to get their head out of their ass and realize that this world is going to be a diverse place. People will ALWAYS be different colors, and worship different gods, and yes, be of different sexualites. The bible does state against it, but it also states against eating shellfish, playing with pigskin, wearing to different types of fabric at once, premarital sex, ETC. And the bible also states not to judge your neighbor. So unless YOU are going to be gay married: STAY OUT OF GAY MARRIAGE. You are just hurting people and making perfectly normal people feel like outcasts.

In a country claiming to separate church and state, as well as a country that prides itself on the equality of ALL of its citizens, my homosexual friends and loved ones deserve the opportunity to marry. Kim Kardashian can plan a wedding expensive enough to pay for thousands of kids' college fees, but is allowed to divorce in 72, and still people say gay people will ruin the sanctity of marriage. I know more gay people with genuine adoration and love for their partner than I do straight people, and they deserve the special bond of marriage. Practice what you preach, America, and help out your neighbors.

There's nothing wrong with love between two consenting adults, no matter what genders they are .

Gays are people too, they deserve equal rights. Maybe the Bible does say marriage should be between a man and a woman, that's a cool story, bro! We don't need the Bible to decide what is legal and what's not. Not all Americans are Christian. If you don't support gay people, that's fine. Just turn the other cheek and stay out of their business!

There's no such thing as gay marriage, only marriage between two people completely in love. being attracted to someone of the same gender does not make you any less of a person, pr any less able to receive the same human right as the majority.

I'm a christian and the bible makes reference to the whole gay marriage thing sure what ever. It also states that you aren't allowed to get piercings, tattoos, wear different types of fabric together, work on Sundays, and that woman aren't suppose to have their faces showing. I find it funny that people want to pick and choose the rules just so they feel comfortable. We also have to look at the separation of Church and State,(although it hasn't really ever happened because if it was separate then we could buy alcohol on Sundays and other stuff also)... needless to say, the church has been given to much power. We don't deny people of different religions the joy of marriage do we? Why should this be any different?
