I personally think gay/lesbian couples are great. If two people love each other, no one should stand in their way. I've known many gays/lesbians over the years, most of whom were good, close friends. I've spent a great deal of time with them, gone to exclusive gay parties and bars, been hit on by men (lol), I've been teased for being straight, I've had friends with AIDS, and on and on. I even moved into the gay community of Hillcrest in San Diego (inadvertently) for a few years.
But when it comes to marriage there are several issues one should consider:
--It weakens the definition and respect for the institution of marriage.
--It further weakens the traditional family values essential to our society.
--It provides a slippery slope in the legality of marriage (e.g. having multiple wives, or other alternative marriage concepts).
--It confuses children about gender roles and expectations of society.
--Years of research shows that a gay/lesbian lifestyle leads to a lower life expectancy, psychological disorders, and other problems.
Again, I have no problem with same sex couples, but I do have a problem with a minority dictating that a society adapt to meet their needs. Marriage has been around for well over 4000 years, and has been a religious practice for nearly 2000 years and in all that time has been considered to be between a man and a woman. Now, in only a couple of generations, we are supposed to throw all that away to accommodate 5% of our population.
I'll bet few people even remember how this all got started. Back in the 70's a guy was dying of AIDS and his partner wasn't going to receive any benefits since they weren't "married". The issue received national attention at the time and most people understood that he was getting a raw deal. Because of that everything has since changed regarding the rights of same sex partners..... except for that pesky marriage thing.
I do feel for you, but I can't support you.
First gay people have been around since the start of time its only the past 100 years or so that people are finally showing there true selfs and not hiding. And hate to break it but its far more that %5 of the population more like 30 or 40% of the population is gay or bi. And there is no research that proves being gay make you live a shorter live, NONE!! And for the children there are plenty that are raised by same sex couples and turn out just fine and lots are straight since orientation is decided far before birth, you can just make people gay otherwise I would be since most of my best friends are, people who I work and hang out with almost every day and even my roommate. so yes you are born with it.

You're an idiot.
*100 years ago, if you went mincing down the street in Montana, or Ohio, or San Francisco, you would have been beaten to a pulp. 40 years ago gays started coming out and were far from "accepted".
*30 to 40%? You have nothing to back up that outrageous claim. You merely pulled those numbers out of your well-lubed ass.
*How far "before" birth is sexual orientation determined?
Every claim made in teh post you quoted is verifiable with overwhelming and conclusive evidence based on years of research. You're being defensive and reacting out of emotion. If your sniffles are done, go do some research and find out the truth about your lifestyle.

Homosexuality is perversion because of sodomy. Look up the definitions.

Why do you think Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed? If it isn't in the Holy Bible, then maybe you better wait till you get to heaven and ask God if it's ok. Wonder what Jesus would say to this question?

Sodom, Gomorrah, God, and Jesus never existed.

Regardless, none of it has anything to do with secular American law.

lets worry about who is killing who instead of who is loving who
