Everyone has the right to be happy. I believe it doesn't matter what the person's sex is, it is who you fall in love with. So be it if it is the same sex you are. Why should you be denied happiness and the right to marry. The world has come a long way, let's not stop short of equality for all no matter who you share a bed with.

I oppose it 100%. Just because you can do something doesn't make it a good thing to do. Marriage is between one man and one woman. That's the way God made it and that is how it should stay.

Well, Jose, it will never be legal in your lifetime in the third world county known as Mexico, so why don't you head back there?

On a more serious note, if this is purely a religious issue, then separation of church and state makes it so the governemtn has no right denying marriage to two consenting adults.

If this is purely an issue of law, then the government has no right to discriminate against two consenting adults just becuase they are same-sex.

As long as the governemtn does not force any religious institute into marrying any two particular people, then I don't see what the issue is. Any church can deny any couple right now. After meeting with the priest/pastor, he can determine that his church finds you unfit for marriage and refuse to perform the ceremony for you. I have no problem with a church that determines same-sex marriages to be against the tenets of their faith and refuse to perform the ceremony. There are churches out there willing to marry same-sex couples.

Wow. Rude much? Here's how ignorant you are...gay marriage is legal in Mexico. Gays can also adopt in Mexico. Many Countries have legalized gay marriage. America is the one that seems behind the times on this human rights issue.
I do agree with your point about separation of church and state. I'd add that we also cant set a precedent by putting discrimination on the ballot. It never works out when the majority votes on the rights of the minority. Times are changing. The founders of our constitution couldn't have possibly envisioned the world we live in today. But equal rights. Seperation of church and state.
And gays being able to get a piece of paper from city hall that gives them tax benefits and allows them to visit each other in the hospital hurts people how?

Sorry, angry spill-over from another topic. Thank you for clearing up my ignorance (honestly, no snark).

It is only Mexico City that has legalized gay marriage so far, other states are most likely to follow, but not all Mexican states are on board.

I guess it's more proof that the Puritans sought religious freedom...as long as you followed their views.

In Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Washington, D.C., marriages for same-sex couples are legal and currently performed.

Where's your God now?

Don't believe in encouraging and justifying anal sex between two men or foster children being raised in that environment.

Well Paul, those who rage against it most are usually in latent denial. Hope it's cozy in your closet.

God intended and I believe marriage is and still should be between a man and a woman only--he created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. I mean really!!!

I wonder if the "man" in the gay/lesbian relationship is secretly oposing gay/lesbian marrage? I think if the situation was reversed where straights could not be married. It would be like sorry baby you know I would marry you in a minute if it were legal but It's againt the law. Then back with the friends it would be like thank you law for allowing me to escape.

That was very insightful Lee. I think you should go into the bumper sticker business.

Why be sexist and discriminate what gender someone can marry?

Marriage is the union of a man and woman. Gay marriage is an oxymoron. Civil union or something else is what gay couples can do

You do realize that
a) marriage is a civil contract therefore gender neutral
b) a civil union is not equal to a marriage in terms of the law.
If you think c.u. are ok... then get one
