I agree we should stop giving oil companies and multinational corporation tax breaks and subsides.
Lower the price of oil by stopping wall street for speculating on the price of oil.

pls stop with the democrats' talking points about oil speculators... its total BS to divert blame away from their failed policies and on to the ever present evil wall streeters! believe it or not, speculators provide much needed liquidity in commodities mkts that helps to reduce price volatility.

I see it OK to use only Republican talking points. Oil Speculators reduce price volatility? Are you kidding? They are to blame for these high gas prices. They make their money on the backs of the average guy and gal in the street. Try examining the tax breaks for big oil defended by the Republicans when looking for a failed policy. I suppose there struggling, counting all those profits.

i am an energy professional, been one my whole career.. i speak from experience and knowledge. the tax breaks oil companies are false claims by weak administration... raising taxes on oil/energy companies will do NOTHING to reduce prices at the pump,,, in fact, it will cause further price increases. get over the issue of the divisive class warfare - think on your own for once, if thats at all possible.
Just look

An energy professional? Wow! Now should provide an unbiased opinion. What about all that concern about the deficit? Your willing to let the oil companies get breaks they don't need or deserve, while cutting unemployment and food stamps? And then claim that isn't class warfare?
If you put lipstick on a pig, then feed it more, you only end up with a bigger pig wearing lipstick.
I agree there is a failed policy here, it's congress fault for allowing multinational corporation to continue abuse the system.
More of the past is not progress its just more of what we already know doesn't work.

so my professional opinion is biased and jibes with a certain political slant??? i am glad that my 20+ yrs as a commodities specialist can be so discounted by yourself, while at the same time you can spout democrat/liberal talking points as if they are gospel. you concern yourself with the tax breaks "given" to the oil companies, though that is entirely false, bc they are not shown any favoritism in this respect. i guess youre ok with GE paying NO tax, despite the CEO immelt being an adviser to the president.. or that the GM bailout deal, that screwed primary lendors [aka bond holders] and favored union workers, also involved paying NO TAXES... hmmmm,,, both deals are ok with you i guess bc it is a democrat put them together... bottom line is, we have an out of control spending problem NOT an under taxed problem...

the ass clown in the white house has increased national debt 125% MORE than gwb ran up debt in less than 50% of the time... stated otherwise,,,, national debt in 3 yrs under bho is > $5 trln... under gwb, debt was total $4 trln in 8 yrs... both sums are grotesque but you can worry about ONE BUSINESS being vilified for getting tax breaks that are not even in valid. taking another look at this... exxon earned roughly the same amount of GROSS revenue as appl in latest quarterly report,,, yet the EPS for exxon was only $2, while appl was $12... are you going to claim appl is earning too much profit??? what is wrong with this picture??

Trying to twist my position to support your views are we? I am not OK with any corporation not paying their fair share and that includes the oil companies. You blame Obama for the national debt while totally ignore the fact that it was a Republican president and members of congress that started these two unfunded wars and policy's that created this situation in the first place. How convenient, self serving and unpatriotic is that?
The plan to give more tax breaks to the wealthy has not worked in the past , is not working now. So the entire Republican solution is for more of what cause this situation in the first place. This will just drag this country further down the road that the last administration started us down. Sorry but they will have to do better then that to get my independent vote.

hmmm... so the reagan tax breaks didnt seem to work??? and that is despite stats showing that when tax rates, especially the capital gains tax, goes down- tax receipts go up dramaticall is discounted by you....

you can dismiss my professional experience bc some dipshit politician says otherwise. you pass over my comment the current ass clown has exploded the national debt by more than $5 trillion, wracking up deficits greater than $1.3 TRILLION for each of the last 3 years AND without even passing a federal budget.... so typical of a damn liberal to deflect a redirect stating your points rather than address facts as provided to you.

obama is an unmitigated failure, who has spent more than a combination of presidents combined going back decades.... he has overstepped the bounds of power as enumerated in the constitution, while at the same time failing to do his job as outlined by the constitution. dickheads like you voted for him to prove youre not a racist... now you need not vote for him [again] to prove youre not stupid.

Yeah Mr. Oil Professional, you donít know anything. We need the government to overtake more industries to stop these greedy capitalists from growing the economy. How do you suppose we fund government handouts (Obamacare, bankrupt solar companies, etc.), if we donít take a larger portion of rich peopleís earnings? After all, you canít expect to ask the 50% of the public who donít pay any income taxes to pitch in. So letís demonize successful people. Ok? And Iíll let you in on a little secret, Mr. Oil Professional. Tax breaks are available to everybody. Not just rich people. But that doesnít make for a very good soundbyte, so we can agree to ignore it, like most other facts. Ok? Anyway, letís start yelling about a make-believe Republican War On This or That, to put rational, thoughtful people on the defensive, so we further our pointless agenda? Ok? If you donít like it, youíre probably just a racist, gun-toting homophobe anyway.

Oh sure the national debt and lack of jobs had nothing to do with the past administration policies. We should just keep giving the wealthy larger and larger tax break and allowing corporation not to pay a dime in taxes, that should help the deficit and the economy.
Here's an idea lets have another war based on bullshit and borrow money from China.
You can blame Obama all you want but the truth is the Republicans platform has NO new solutions at all.
Attempts to blame on Obama for everything is just silly BS. It s simply and clearly dishonest. The country deserve better then more of the BS that got us here.

your arguments are weak and terribly sophomoric.... nearly 4 yrs into this ass clown's term, you can blame everything on gwb,,, saying its [intellectually] dishonest to hold bho responsible for even a modicum of blame. never in the history of this country has a leader blamed his predecessor so frequently and for so long as this douche...

the whole world was whipping up into a financial crisis leading up to the election in nov '08 AND we were engaged in the 2 wars when bho was asking for your vote... so it is NOT AS THOUGH HE WAS UNCLEAR on what he was getting into when he wanted to work for america. after nearly 3.75 years in office to hear him whine about how its not his fault.. its the fault of gwb... or the earthquake in japan .. or the financial problems in the eu .. or its from atm machines ... he comes across as nothing more than cry baby who is greatly unprepared for the oval office... moreover, your willingness to accept this behavior from the supposed most powerful leader of the free world proves youre the idiot i have always suspected.... your writing has done a great job of removing all doubt to this effect...

so.. as your father should have done 9 months prior to your birth.. i am pulling out of this discussion.

This deception of trying to blame Obama for the 8 years of disaster under George Bush simply isn't working. If that's all the Republican have to offer is lies, denial and the continuation of failed Bush's policy and calling that a solution, then they are the real "ass clowns" here.
All criticism of others you have made, is really a self description of your own character and core values. How sad and shallow.
