Children need to be taught responsibility and helping on the farm is one way that parents can teach their children. Also, their work will produce rewards for them as they see the fruits of their labor. There is a whole lot to be learned from the work involved in keeping up a family farm - or even when contributing to the household duties in a normal urban/suburban home.

I don't know what the statistics are, but I'll wager that farm kids are safer than kids who roam the streets.
