In te 1980's and 90's, TV preachers dredged the Evangelicals and segragationist from bottom of the Democrat party and hijacked the Republican party. Once a party of moderates and libertarians, it has become dominated by theocratic zealots, claiming to only be interested in protecting religious freedom. Even thoug they are now Republicans, they have retained their big government, collectivist, majority rules mentality. Rick Santorum fits this description.
Ron Paul does not use his faith in his platform. What a persons faith is doesn't matter. What matters is if they desire to force it upon others by the force of government.
