NJ lowered its drinking age in the 80's to 18, and promptly raised it back to 21 shortly thereafter.

I was in a local Vernon pub and saw several 15 year olds there with phony ID's. That's a good reason to keep it raised, however, if an 18 year old has active Military ID, it would be nice to allow that same ADULT to have a drink.(BTW as soon as I saw them the bartender knew the were underage and they were told in my parenting voice if I ever saw them in a bar again their folks would know too)!

If they can pick up a gun and fight for their country, they should be afforded the right to raise a glass. The problem is I can't have it both ways LOL. JMO

If you are old enough to fight and die for this country then you are old enough to have a beer.

If someone is old enough to fight for our country and put their lives on the line for our freedom then they are old enough to have a beer. If your considered an adult for all legal purposes at the age of 18 then you are old enough to have a beer. If you are allowed to vote at the age of 18 because that is the age a person is considered an adult, then they are old enough to have a beer.

It doesn't matter.

college kids aged 18-21 are still going to drink regardless of the age limit.

Middle School/High Schoolers age 12 through 18 are still going to drink regardless of the age limit.

So what does the age limit actually do anyway?

I still would rather have a sober soldier fight for my country's freedom than some drunken 18 year old.

God I love my parents... thank God you are not my parent. Why is it that my parents could raise their five children without having one of us drinking or taking drugs? And do not accuse me of lying.... God, ages 12 - 18? Are my parents the only ones out there who really guide, love and encourage????... Not too hard to do.

Oh I'm with you on that. I had a brother that died and fought in the Vietnam War as a result of the draft but, if we have no choice, I would rather have a sober soldier than a drunken soldier fighting. Wouldn't you?

So, you never had one drop of alchohol prior to your 21st b-day?

12, yes. I was in the 7th grade when two female classmates brought vodka to school in a Poland spring bottle and got drunk at school. Did you goto college? Campus parties overflowing with booze attended by underage students is the scene at EVERY University in the Country. Do you live in a sheltered bubble?

You don't like him why? Because he's got a reality check on stupid kids doing stupid things? Wake up kids start to do things not allowed when they're around that age.

They're too young to be drinking.

I agree, 18 should be the drinking age....If you are able to vote and fight in the military then you should be able to legally drink alcohol. There are some professionals that should not be allowed to drink ...by professionals, I mean over 21 that are not responsible!

You dont like me because i tell it like it is without the sugar coating. You didnt answer either question. How old were you when you had your first "drink"? Im not talking about sneaking a sip of wine from the dining room table at Thanksgiving when you were four. I am talking about a drink. I was 18, at a college party, I had A beer, if you were interested in a "confession". However, i remember growing up neighborhood kids getting drunk/smoking weed back in the woods in the 7th grade.
