I European countries, there is no drinking age. you see kids in Germany throwing up in an ally during a "FolksFest" and by the time they are old enough to drive they have already found their personal limits.

Here in the nanny state, the 'Gummint' has decided for us, that first we learn to handle a 2 ton vehicle ... before we can start learning how to handle a 12oz bottle.

It's not the people under 21 that are causing the issues! IT'S ALL DRUNKS WHO DRINK AND DRIVE NO MATTER HOW OLD. WANT TO BLAME IT ON 18-21 YEAR OLDS WHEN THE TRUTH IS THAT 21 AND UP ARE NOT SETTING GOOD EXAMPLES OF NOT DRINKING AND DRIVING. 18 SHOULD BE THE LEGAL AGE TO DRINK.

THE 18 YEAR OLD MALE/FEMALE IS TRUSTED TO PROTECT OUR NATIONAL BORDERS AND GIVEN OPIUM AND HAROINE(as they did our troops in vietnam)to survive the wars, but they can't take a drink. AS FAR AS THE GOVERNMENT GOES: THEY SHOULD BE SUPPLYING THESE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WITH A BOTTLE OF THEIR FAVORITES. ANY PERSON UNDER 21 CAN PROTECT THE NATIONAL BORDERS BUT CAN NOT DRINK. HOW STUPID THE DECISIONS OF STATE GOVERNMENT ONCE AGAIN. LEAVE THE 18 YEAR OLDS ALONE AND LET THEM DRINK, DRINK DRINK!

Most people that age aren't mature enough for anything

There were far fewer problems with binge drinking/underage drinking back when the limit was 18. There is no reason adults who are considered mature enough to vote or die for their country shouldn't be able to drink.

At eighteen, you can buy cigarettes, star in/purchase porn, go off to war, drive, vote, marry, buy a car, buy a house, etc... but you can't drink alcohol? What's wrong with this picture? If we're responsible enough to do ALL that, and many more things not mentioned, I'm sure 18 year olds can handle alcohol, too.

When I was in Vietnam at 18 years old, the voting age was 21. America is trash because you can't drink at 18?? That sounds pretty harsh to me.

18 year olds are allowed to go to war, and buy cigerrettes, sign there own papers, get tattoos, so they should be allowed to drink to. if the age goes back to 18 this will prevent 18 yr olds going to partys and binge drinking. 18 yr olds deserve a chance to prove that they can drink responsibly

HELL NO, We have a drinking and driving problem already without adding to it. And with all the binge drinking that happens nowadays, we don't need more immature youth out there acting like idiots.

Our kids think they are all killers from hours playing call of duty without ever firing a real gun.

Maybe Sony can make a PSP drinking game ... so our kids can be lushes without ever having a real drink!

If they made a game that simulated going to school ... they could all be smart without the deploma.

That explains a lot about our current political problems!!!!
All these irresponsible kids are voting!
They can't be trusted to have sound judgement until they hit 21!

Maybe we should allow the drinking age for Democrats be 18 ... so more of them will die off in drinking & driving accidents!

You mean like the college students that think they are "ENTITLED" to everything for free and then go off and vote for Obama. Maybe we should just host drinking parties for them the day before the election so they can sleep off their alcohol and not vote.
To allow an 18 year old to drink takes the mystery and fun out of bars. This will decrease binge drinking, in my opinion. Also, if someone chooses to join the armed forces to protect my freedom, I should be able to buy him or her a drink at the age of 18, when they can join.
It wont stop binge drinking at all. By changing the age from 21 to 18 , the only thing you have done is make binge drinking legal. 21 is just fine, leave it alone. I also dont know why the military thing is an issue. When I served 18 year olds were already drinking on base at the bowling alley. When I was in Germany 18 year olds were in the clubs drinking. But for those of you who dont know, drinking is a problem in some branches and it leads to UCMJ action. And when you come back to base after a night of drinking be prepared to go through the cones at the gate.

maybe drinking shouldn't be an issue of age but responsibility.
prove you can hold a job or some other responsible position ... and you are allowed to drink.

If we make it about being able to make responsible choices ... our politicians would all be sober!!!

Just stumbled on this. Had to say WOW!A guy calling himself a patriot and has symbols of American freedom and liberty thinks that the freedom and liberty of personal choice for legally recognized adults should be restricted by government policy. How freaking ironic.
