18 year olds have proven time and time again that they have not matured enough to be able to purchase or drink alcohol.

I think it doesn't matter because there are people of all ages dining and driving and fighting and everything else, if your old enough to fight for your country and risk your life then you should be able to buy beer and gamble! they need to blow of stress somehow!

I have heard and even argued the point that if you can die for your country you should be able to have a beer. You must remember that persons in the military are in a very structured environment. Everything in the military is organized, and is for the sole purpose of developing people with no hesitation about killing. The bars offer no such structure, and I am opposed to 18 year old people drinking in bars, I would favor a bill that allows them to purchase alcohol an consume at a private residence.

I don't think that people that young have the proper judgement to be drinking alcohol. On the other hand, I do not believe that it is the federal government's job to tell us at what age we can purchase and consume alcohol. This should be determined by local governments as they see fit.

Hahahahahahahaha you have grown 40 year old men who can't even handle their alcohol.. Then get so drunk they hit on every 17 year old they see! Age does not make you mature. You have grown adults that act like 12 year olds. And some teenagers that have worked and provided everything on their own when their parents were at home wasted every night and can't take care of their kids.

the legal age to be an adult, drink, join the military, vote, etc. should ALL either be 21 or 18. One or the other. How in the hell can someone argue that ur not mature enough at 18 to drink a beer, BUT ur mature enough to vote, fight for ur country, and to be sent to death row for whatever heinous crime u committed.

I think they should raise the age to 25 bc 21yr olds are as ignorant as 18yr olds are

Believe me - the 18-year-olds have NO trouble whatsoever getting just about anything they want to drink. It infuriates me, but it's true.

Honestly, I'm almost 18 and I have pretty damn good judgement. They might as well lower the age to 18 because people who aren't 21 get alcohol just as easy. I know that I'm going to be told that I only think that it should be lower because I'm almost 18 and I'm young. Not all 18 year olds are as ignorant as people think they are. I also believe that if you can go to war and be possibly killed or injured or even become insane of what you see in war that you should be able to go to a bar and have a drink. Drinking and driving is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard of. I would never let any of my friends drive or be in a car with someone who has been drinking.

I'm just curious as to why you fuckwits think there is ANY correlation between "drinking" and "enlisting in the military?"

Before you rush to your keyboards and regurgitate the same, worn-out cliche' responses, read the question carefully. I'm looking for a direct correlation between "drinking alcohol" and "enlisting in the military."

I await your profound answers with bated breath.

Personally, I think it is ironic that I was married at 18 and had a child at 20 but it was illegal for me to drink. Notice I said ironic not wrong. Looking back the age for marriage and parenthood should be raised. I was too ignorant for both!!

So in your mind marrying and having babies should be for those over 21 while drinking should be at 18? What??
