If you can die for the country, you should be able to have a beer before you do.

<quoted text>So you want to add more drunk drivers at ages 18,19, & 20 ?!? That is not sensible.
Most have little trouble getting alcohol with it being illegal & you want to open the door further?
There is a reason why there are less alcohol related crimes in Europe, where the drinking age is 18 or lower. Making alcohol taboo makes teens want it more. Also, when it's illegal, then there's no parental supervision, making binge drinking and drunk driving more likely. Stop the neo-Prohibitionist MADD propaganda and lies. They just want to control the sheeple like you.

Supply the source of YOUR claim of ...there are less alcohol related crimes in Europe...& we can discuss this further. IF you can't supply some source, I reserve the discretion dismiss such a claim.
IF you are talking of drunk driving injuries & deaths, that's another issue that I am more prepared to discuss.
Alcoholism is almost a trademark in many European countries. The British Isles for ale & scotch, France, Spain & Italy etc for wine, Germany for it's Beer Halls, Russia for it's excessive vodka drinking, much of the orient for it's various rice wines, Mexico & others for tequila & on & on. Then there's the Baltic states for their pot & heroin use so do not act like the U.S. is the devils playground & that the rest of the world has it all worked out.

If you are old enough to fight and die for your country, you're old enough to have a beer.

If the military is not able to kill people and destroy their equipment it is worthless. We DO have enemies - that's the only reason we need a military.

Sorry, private, but that's the real world.

We're talking about 18, not 15. 18 you can die for Uncle Sam but not drink. That is a double standard. Either the military age should be raised or the drinking age lowered. Otherwise is hypocracy.

For those that don't realize it, The federal gov establishes the armed forces, the states establish alcohol regulations. And what about Alaska, Nev, TX, N.Mex, Kan, Ark, & 14 other states that have dry counties & or cities/towns? Would expect them to have alcohol sales just for military personel since they are ready to 'die for their country'?

It is proven that in other countries, the legal drinking age is 18, the teens that are more likely to drink at 18 are those who wait to turn 21. if the age was lowered to 18, children would start drink at maybe 15 or 16, which isn't very well thought out. if it was lowered then children would start another petition saying the drinking age should be dropped even more, and history would repeat itself, with that said there are still pros to lowering the age. Once a person starts drinking at 18, they would not have to hide the fact from their parents and they wouldn't be driving, at 18 you become an adult and therefore can be tried as an adult as well so why not drink like an adult at 18? Children from other countries who drink at 18 seem to be more responsible when it comes to drinking and driving they know not to drive, and yes i have lost people to drunk driving. in my opinion there is not a problem with lowering the age to 18 if you want your kids to start drinking at 14-16, i know i DO NOT want my kids drinking that early on in life, that takes away their childhood!

At one time, some states allowed drinking of so called low powered (3.2) beer. Ohio was one of them. That seemed to work for me.
The laws changed when the feds threatened to with hold highway tax funds (properly owed to the states) IF they didn't raise the drinking age to 21. They used the same extortion tactics concerning seatbelt laws.

Not really. Just experienced & pragmatic, as in...been there, done that.
