They should put it on the ballot and allow only armed forces personnel to vote.I don't think the majority of them care what the sexual preference of who they are fighting beside. The objective is to do the job and go home safely.Leave the politics and religion out of it and let the people it will affect decide.

Over the years the U.S. Military has ousted thousands of qualified men and women for no other reason other than their sexual orientation. The military's action has cost the country millions of dollars (wasted training) and placed our country at risk by creating shortages in key areas.
Many other countries have already allowed LGBT people to serve in their military (Israel, Britain, Canada, etc.) without problems.
It's time to overturn this discriminatory policy.

Please, noone respond to this in favor of keeping the policy, and this will die a quick death, and won't drag on for months like gay marriage. Please.

Why would you care about the life of this topic? You obviously have the ability to choose to open the thread and look at it. If you don't want to follow a specific topic, then don't open the thread.

For the U.S. to be a democracy we are very resistant to the democratic process.I really don't follow the line of thinking "ignore it and it will go away". People have their lives and careers at stake and like it or not, it is a matter of national security.I am not a gay advocate. The entire issue has little to do with my life.I am in favor of human rights and the ban as written violates human rights. It should not matter.

I guess since the law is going to be repealed there's no need discussing this issue any further. What an excellent turn of events!!!

In related news, the head of every Westboro Baptist Church member has exploded in self righteous anger.

Guess they should just set up a tent at the Pentagon now.

No explination needed. This is stupid, gays have no business being in the military. My tax dollars should not go to support them.

Just goes to show you that this country is headed to hell. Thank God I'm retired and wont be serving with all the Pansy asses. And for all of you that want to down my post. I pulled 2 tours in south east Asia and shed my blood for old Glory and your worthless ass so I can write what I want.

If I'm a "Pansy Ass" that must make you a "Royal Pain in the Ass".

And by the way, Christ was a pacifist who commanded us to not kill or injure those who harm us. We are to turn the other cheek instead of engaging in wars.

Looks like our country might not be the only thing that's in danger of hell...

Personal lives should stay personal no what what profession you work in. Where I work we are told to leave our personal lives at home. Why should this be any different..

With respect,I can not believe that there wasn't one gay guy in the in the military when you severed your country. More than likely there was, they just didn't advertise it.Personal lives should stay personal. Where I work we are told to leave our personal lives at home.I think this should be up held no matter what profession you work in. It makes things a lot easier.Whatever happened to thou shall not judge or the "Golden Rule" Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.I only wish that people would ask themselves that question before they did something or opened there mouths. On the other hand i can see your point of view.If people thought/knew that someone was looking at your ass,and thinking sexual thoughts. It probably would be a distraction.I also know that not all gay men are like that. Most of the time you can't tell what sexual preferences someone has by looking or speaking to them. Again, this was written with respect to you and all vets.I could not have done what you did for our country, but I hope you can respect my opinion.

It's perhaps advantageous for the guy "covering my ass" to have a vested interest in it.

well what about the straight men who have been away from their families for months and are fighting with women soldiers is it ok for them to look at the females asses and maybe not do their job.............sex should be private between 2 people and in private not at work, when you are paid to do a job do it when youre on your free time then what you do is your business, if you have any self respect for yourself or the person your sleeping with you dont talk about it, i have never known any married man who loved his spouse or partner to come to work and tell what they do in the bedroom, its called respect, the people that raise all the hell in the media about gay or straight mostly are hoes or dogs that just want a quickie and want everyone to know what they are doing, do your job keep your mouth shut and enjoy your life with whomever you are with if it just happens to be a gay relationship its fine with me.............i just hope your will experience love and peace in your life, we have enough hatred and loneliness in this world and i gaurantee you will live a fuller life if you have someone who loves you walking beside you.

I do believe you said it better than I did.I'm glad I'm not the only person with this opinion.
