Looks like it is a done deal. I'm a democrat, but I don't think countries like Iran, and North Korea should know that we have some gays that are going to be in our forces.

Also The Taliban doesnt care if the Troops are gay, straight, or Asexual, their American so they dont like them anyway. Anyone who is willing to lay their life on the line, so you dont have too, should get all the respect you can muster up.

My concern for American solders is not whether they have a right to be Gay, but, openly expressing it in Muslim countries, will make them special targets in particular, and their buddies special targets in general. There are unintended consequences to every action, no matter how well intentioned they may be.

The military will now cease to function. Straight Men & women who fight will no longer enlist, unless all baracks/showers have seperate mo area's. Me and my buddies were considering enlisting, not now,we will wait for a patriotic prez to serve under. Reinstate dont ask,or better yet ban mo's from military. To costly for seperate baracks & disruptive.

To the guy above me. 8 years I spent in the military, never once saw someones orientation negatively affect the mission at hand. You already know a lot of times is someone is gay by the way they act, talk, dress, etc., so its not going to change a whole lot with this, they can just tell you now instead of before, having to be in closet and lie about who they really are. Personally, I dont care what you do in your bedroom, as long as you bring your gameface to work and get the mission done.

I served in the Marines from 1992-2000. This is a classic case of changing the rules to cater to the minority. No guy I ever met in 8 years wanted to be forced to serve with these sissy f-a-g-s. I keep hearing, that it shouldn't matter if somebody is gay. They should have the same rights as a guy thats straight. What a bunch of BS. The 1 percent that is gay has more rights than the 99% of the straight crowd? I guess it really don't matter? Any F-a-g that joins the MARINES and goes to an infantry unit will get his ass kicked so much, he'll be straight in a few days.

Most {secure} straight men could care less who their brothers in arms was fucking, as long as they were shooting at the same enemy. As for DADT it was MEANT for all service men and women NOT just the gays and lesbians. But of coarse it was widdled down to just a certian group of people. OORAH!

I just don't understand why straight men are intimated by gay men. Do they honestly think that if they turn their backs on a gay man that the gay man is going to attack them? LMAO!
The military, all branches, is full of gay men and women. Alot of them, no one would suspect of being gay. As long as they fight for our freedoms, why does it matter? We live in a world full of homophobes.

I gotta agree with Marine. The Government estimates that only 1.6% of our military is gay/lesbian. So, why have they changed the rules, infringed on the rights of the remaining 98.40%?
Look, this is just crazy! When sworn into service, EVERY service takes an oath to uphold and preserve the constitution of the U.S. This country, our Pledge our values are all based around God. EVERY BIBLE I have ever read CLEARLY states that any form of HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN! I thought that KY being the Bible belt would NOT stand for f-a-g-s in our military?
But then again, you idiots voted Rand Frickin Paul into office.....

Both sides give good arguments. I feel like no one should have to hide who they are. It makes me sad that it's so common. But at the same time, you must understand that the rules are different in different countries. Like they said earlier in the thread, it's unfortunate but true that openly gay men and women are targeted in certain religions and countries. On another note...I'm a Christian and yes the Bible says homosexuality is a sin but it's no more a sin then you calling them the "f" word which is a derogatory and mean term. Before you point your finger at them for their "sins" point your finger at yourself and look at your own life. Jesus called for man to love one another as they love themselves. He even stated that the two greatest commandments are "love God" and "love your neighbor". You, so called Christian, are missing one of the greatest points the Bible makes. Next time you want to stand around pointing at other people's "sins" don't forget that you yourself are NOT ONE BIT better then ANYONE ELSE in the eyes of God. To the eyes of man, maybe. But the eyes of God all he sees is a sin and a sinner. He loves you unconditionally, but no more or less then he loves other people on this earth who might be morally better or worse then you.

Look! If you wanna be screwed man on man, woman on woman, GREAT! Do it in regular society. Its not for the military.
MARINE IS EXACTLY RIGHT!! The rules/regulations should NOT cater to the 1% of sissys that like it in the butt!
I'm in the 1% of drivers that thinks the National Highway Speed should be raised to 90 MPH. How come they won't change it for us?
F-a-g-s in the military. What a joke!

I'm just saying don't bring Jesus into the argument if you're simply using what the Bible says to insult people ESPECIALLY when you yourself are NO BETTER.
