The United States has never defaulted on their loans in all of history and no matter how bad republicans want to see Obama fail, they know what consequences our country will face if we don't.

Because it would be kind of pointless to tax people that don't have enough money to even live on.

Sure, tax the rich along with the rest of us. I'm still LOLing on how the rich have become evil merely by being rich. Remember that when the next big invention comes along and some poor sap makes a few mil off it. Maybe if we film him we can see the exact moment he slides to the dark side.

Why? what have they done to be punished with more of the burden? You work hard you take the right steps you can make a good living. Why are they to shoulder more of the burden just because they chose to work for it? And what is the incentive to work hard to succeed when you know ahead of time that you will be punished?

If you have ever applied for a loan you understand that you cant take on more than you can afford to pay. With that being said it is somewhat different for a country because of it being a much larger scale. This country can not afford to borrow more money. We are to far in debt now. Now, with that being said, we still have to avoid default on the loans this country currently has. There is no choice but raise the debt limit now! However, in doing so some thing should be changed at the same time. It isn't raising taxes on the rich to afford more free stuff for the lazy! We need to enact the "FAIR TAX" so that everybody in this country pays taxes. Believe it or not, there are more people who don't pay taxes than do! The fair tax is embedded in everything you buy. Prices would only go up a few cents but everybody that purchases a product pays automatically. The poor get rebate checks and all those taxes that are taken out of your paycheck will be eliminated. If you choose to save all your money you can do it but when you purchase something you pay into your share of taxes. Other than the Fair Tax, this country needs to radically change the way social services are offered in this country. Every person who gets food stamps or any other kind of "FREE" help should be investigated to see what kind of work they can do, if any. To fat and to lazy is not a disability! They make great big fat chairs for them big arses to sit in while at a computer. You know, the kind you are in right now B!tching about making the rich pay out more so you can get another bag of chips! As for the lazy, lets cut them off and see how long it takes them to get hungry enough to do a little work!

Finally!!!!
Someone else said Fair Tax!
you want more revenue? Tax everyone!! The rich will pay more, the poor will pay some, and if spending is under control we can have a ton of money in the counties account to pay off debt.

Good God I thought I'd never see anyone actually say it. Thank you Sir and/or Ma'am...No offense either way ^_^

Exactly, everyone needs to pay something and no one should be given a discounted rate through use of the "loophole" card.

We are still fighting two wars with borrowed money, when do you suppose that we will pay for them? Why were our troops the only ones that were made to sacrifice?

It's more than two wars with Libya, Iran, Syria, and Korea all waiting in the wings. We've already lobbed in the missiles to Libya and those things are not cheap. AS it All looks now the whole middle east could blow up and you can bet your DNC membership that if that does happen we will be right in the middle of it. This administration has shown they are all too ready to get into the fray and in that aspect they are no different than the last administration.

This administration would and does expect the American public to fund these ventures, the previous administration did not. America has enough wealth to pay for our wars, we shouldn't be borrowing the funds. Iraq and Afghanistan have cost us $1.3 trillion so far, when will our Congress vote to raise the revenue to insure that our troops have the necessary funding?

Do you honestly believe that if a tax increase was made that this country would stop deficit spending? We could take two thirds of the wealthy peoples money and not support next years spending. And we have wars on two fronts while financing aggression on a third. And I'm not going to even try to talk about the loans over the last 10 years. The interest on which is not even being adsded to the equation....yet.

I don’t have to explain myself! Because if your Rich you will still have money! But i don’t think it’s fair to other to suffer! Because of this! So yes! They should. Maybe the American Dream of owning your own home will come true! If the Rich are not taxed then, what is the point? we still have to bell our asses out, we OWE China billions of dollars. Another suggestion is they should raise the sale taxies from 6 cent's to the dollar to 12 cents per dollar and then everyone would have Free Health care. Cause they do in Candia! Why not here? And another thing is why cut 500 Billion dollars from senior’s citizens, what point is that making?

I don't understand why Obama is even negotiating with Congress over the debt ceiling when the 14th Amendment gives him the power to bypass Congress and order the debt ceiling raised. I'm sure if Bush were still president he would hesitate to bypass Congress on the debt ceiling. This is a national emergency. We can not allow the Republican party, who are trying to destroy Medicare to hold America hostage.

I don't understand this political farce the Republicans are pulling where they are pretending to care about the national debt. We are in the middle of the Bush recession. They are the ones who caused this mess and now they are holding America hostage over a situation they created.

As much as Republicans want to pretend that history was different, reality prevents history from being changed. What happened happened and now we have to pay the price.

I think it's time we start talking about the Bush recession and figure out what we are going to do to get out of it.

The rich are to rich and hoarding resources that belong to the citizens of earth. They are exploiting the resources for personal gain and not the good of mankind. Tax them into equality.

should have a flat tax rate for everyone! except for people that do not work, then they receive no tax checks! i would hate to be a person that depended on someone else taking care of you! Welfare was a bad idea, now kids raised by welfare parents are beating the system by not working and think everyone owes them something.
